As a seasoned Marvel fan with a decade-long journey through the intricate tapestry of the MCU, I can confidently say that the upcoming movie, Thunderbolts*, has me more excited than an Avenger at a cosmic power-up seminar!
In simple terms, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is always growing, with movies and series coming out in theaters or on Disney+. One of the most eagerly awaited upcoming MCU films is “Thunderbolts,” where a group of antiheroes and villains will team up for a new task. Fans are excited to see Thor battle an opponent from the Thunderbolts cast, so I’m really hoping this collaboration happens in real life!
People who have been long-time fans of Marvel movies eagerly anticipate seeing characters from different series intermingle in projects like The Avengers. Fans are intrigued to see how the upcoming project, Thunderbolts*, will impact the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole and how this group might engage with Earth’s strongest heroes. Instagram fan art provides a glimpse of this interaction, depicting Thor battling Lewis Pullman’s character Bob, also known as Sentry. You can view it below:

What a fascinating development! Instead of Marvel fans being enthralled by Thor’s tears in Deadpool & Wolverine, it seems there’s another character pairing for Thor that has caught their attention now. Whether or not Chris Hemsworth reappears in the MCU will determine if we get to witness this intriguing duo.
In contrast to many of the Thunderbolts cast members who have appeared in prior Marvel Cinematic Universe films, Lewis Pullman will be making his first appearance in this blockbuster. While Bob was glimpsed in the Thunderbolts trailer, he didn’t demonstrate Sentry’s powers. In the comics, he’s capable of going toe-to-toe with Thor in battle, which might explain the depicted artwork.
The information we have on Thunderbolts is quite scarce, as we’ve just recently been presented with the first footage. It appears that the team will be forced together, leading to a spectacular fight sequence involving a knife being passed among characters. Additionally, Bob/Sentry can be seen emerging from a container or crate-like object. We’re eagerly anticipating how this new character will interact with the existing ones and how powerfully they’ll portray him in the live-action version.
Regarding Chris Hemsworth’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), there’s a sense of uncertainty at present. He broke records by being the first hero to star in four solo films, and the ending of “Thor: Love and Thunder” introduced some major shifts. To be specific, he adopted Gorr’s daughter Love and formed a new superheroic duo with her. It remains to be seen if Hemsworth will pick up Stormbreaker again in the shared universe, although fans eagerly anticipate his return for the upcoming crossover spectacle, “Avengers: Doomsday.” The possibility of him working alongside Sentry may hinge on whether Lewis Pullman’s character survives his movie.
Thunderbolts* will hit theaters on May 2nd, 2025. For now, check the 2025 movie release dates.
