As a die-hard fan of all things vintage and authentic, I must say that the recent debut of Wrangler’s 13MWZ® Original Cowboy Cut™ jean silhouette in Europe for Fall/Winter 2024 has sent shivers of excitement down my spine! Growing up on a ranch, these jeans were the epitome of cool and durability. To see them grace European soil, after being a wardrobe staple for generations of cowboys and rodeo champions across the US, is nothing short of a dream come true.
For the upcoming Fall/Winter season of 2024, the classic cowboy-style jean design from the esteemed denim brand Wrangler, known as the 13MWZ® Original Cowboy Cut™, will make its debut in Europe.
For decades, this design has been a trusted essential for cowboys and rodeo heroes throughout the United States, embodying the brand’s values of liberty, tradition, and innovation without significant alterations since its debut in 1947. Made from robust 100% cotton, the denim features a textured design that conforms to the wearer’s body shape and is constructed to endure a lifetime. The latest assortment comes in seven washes such as “Classic Black,” “Tan,” “Stonewash,” and “Chocolate.” This new collection showcases a mid-rise, regular thigh, and straight leg opening, offering a relaxed fit and bootcut silhouette that mirrors the style prevalent within the community.
To kick off its presence on the continent, Wrangler collaborated with Parisian vintage retailer Kiliwatch, located in the vibrant Marais district, for a cozy pre-fashion week gathering prior to Paris Fashion Week.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but sing praises for Navinder Nangla, one of this generation’s most thrilling artists. His unique style, characterized by unconventional aesthetics and the iconic red squiggle line typography, has an undeniable pop art echo that harks back to his artistic predecessors. At a recent event, he graced us with a customization station where attendees could choose from an array of leather belts and have them embellished with his signature, quirky misspelled text while they waited. What a treat!
In a cowboy-themed twist, Nangla incorporated expressions like “Wrangla”, “Hauwdee”, and “Kakctuz” along with names and messages, all stamped with his unique style. Speaking to TopMob, he shared, “What I enjoyed customizing the most were the names, as it brings smiles when I spell them differently.” He added, “I thrive in environments where my art connects with people and they can engage with me too. My art is for the people.
In various ways, the western motif permeated throughout the event: attendees donned denim ensembles and listened to carefully selected country tunes; meanwhile, the venue provided an area for customizing cowboy hats and a vintage-style photo booth, ensuring that the cowboy theme was seamlessly integrated into every facet of the evening.
