As a gamer who’s spent countless hours immersed in virtual worlds and narratives, I can confidently say that Inside Out 3 has the potential to be a game-changer, or rather, movie-changer. If you’ve ever experienced the rollercoaster of emotions when falling in love for the first time, you’ll understand why I’m so excited about this concept.
Regarding 2024’s cinematic offerings, it seems virtually certain that “Inside Out 2” will be hailed as one of the year’s top films and a massive box office success. Given a movie’s ability to satisfy both audiences and studio bosses, a sequel is often the result. As for anticipating a third “Inside Out” film, I’m not only eager to delve back into Riley’s mind, but I also have an idea about which emotion could take center stage in the next installment.
To date, the animated film “Inside Out” has managed to discuss growing up in a relatable manner, initially focusing on Riley’s experience of moving at age eleven, followed by her journey through puberty at thirteen. The original movie primarily explores the emotion of sadness and the importance of acknowledging it instead of suppressing it. In the sequel, we delve into the emergence of anxiety and its influence on one’s identity. For future installments, I am eager to witness Pixar’s take on the intricate ways in which experiencing love for the first time affects our brains and emotions as Riley continues her journey into adolescence.
Why I Think Inside Out 3 Should Explore First Love In Riley’s Teen Years
Just as Anxiety might unexpectedly appear in the sequel to Inside Out, I believe Pixar could create an entertaining scenario where an emotion called “Romance” or “Passion” emerges when Riley experiences a crush on one of her classmates. This newfound infatuation can be so powerful that it alters her brain chemistry significantly, similar to the way first love can leave a lasting impact.
During adolescence, it’s not uncommon for people to believe they’ve found the love of their life, whether it was just admiring someone from afar during class or being in a romantic relationship. I envision this scenario as a summer camp crush that leaves Riley overwhelmed by emotions because she’s experiencing new feelings for the first time, much like how the Inside Out movies portray characters within a compact timeframe.
For the first time when true romantic feelings arise (let’s keep things appropriate here), they have a profound impact on your emotions, potentially causing significant shifts in your life. I can envision quite the stir this could cause amongst the various emotions we’ve already encountered in Riley’s mind. Imagine a vibrant character, let’s say a captivating pink persona, who might be brought to life by an exceptionally charming actor like Pedro Pascal or Margot Robbie, exuding both romance and charisma.
When Riley genuinely falls for someone in real life, Love will manifest, causing her to stumble over her words and hold the object of her affection in high regard (and isn’t it amusing to imagine that this feeling could actually have heart-shaped eyes?!). Do you think you’re getting a sense of what I’m trying to convey?
It Could Also Make For Another Impactful Journey For Joy
Although Riley’s mind encompasses various emotions, Amy Poehler’s character Joy has consistently been the focal point. This might be because Joy represents something we all strive for in life. Specifically, I’m intrigued by the possibility of Inside Out 2 focusing on Passion, as it shares a strong connection with Joy. People who have experienced love can attest to the sensation that the loved one serves as the origin of their Joy and amplifies it more profoundly.
In the realm of “Inside Out,” it’s intriguing that until now, Joy has been rather aloof towards embracing other feelings like Sadness and Anxiety, only to accept them by the film’s conclusion. But when Passion arrives on the scene, I have a feeling Joy instantly connects with Passion and even develops a romantic relationship with this emotion. They seem to complement each other so well; it would be captivating to watch Joy essentially prioritize Passion over all the other feelings, as they seem to guide the story together.
Absolutely, Anxiety could play a significant part in this scenario since first love and love overall often provoke it, as well as Embarrassment and other feelings. However, I’m eager to explore how Passion and Joy might develop a strong bond among the Inside Out characters, thereby enriching the universe of these movies.
It’s A More Complex Topic, But As She Grow Up, So Should Riley’s Emotions
While the idea of Passion being part of Inside Out 3 is very interesting to me, it is a topic that would deserve love and attention because of how complex the topic itself is. Though, I think since if Riley was, let’s say 15, Pixar could have fun with it since it’d be both lower stakes and relatable to people.
Passion can take many forms, from toxicity to wholesome levels that could certainly be explored, and Pixar would have to be careful with how it depicts Passion for a large audience. That being said, that’s another thing about the potential of Inside Out 3 that excites me. I like the idea of the animation studio building on its concept by tackling more complex emotions as Riley gets older, because that’s literally what’s going on in our brains as we age.
The only potential problem I see with this idea is how to make it universal. For example, fans in the LGBTQ+ community have had theories about Riley’s sexuality since her relationship with Val could be read as a crush to some, so the gender she falls for does make it more specific in a way. However, I personally think the gender wouldn’t matter because one could still relate to the experience of first love ultimately if Pixar maintains the broad storytelling that makes us love and sympathize with her so much.
Ah, young love! I want to see how the emotions of Inside Out would deal with it. While you ponder my idea, you can stream both Inside Out movies right now with a Disney+ subscription and look forward to the Inside Out Disney+ TV show this December.
