Universal Studios Hollywood Is Set To Spotlight One Piece And Jujutsu Kaisen In A Major Way, And This Sounds Like A Must-See For Anime Fans

As a dedicated anime enthusiast with a soft spot for pirates and supernatural battles, I can hardly contain my excitement about the upcoming Universal Studios Hollywood Fan Fest Nights! Having grown up watching One Piece on VHS tapes (yes, I’m old enough to remember those) and recently binging Jujutsu Kaisen on Crunchyroll, this event feels like a dream come true.

This is an exciting period to be an anime enthusiast! Whether you’re on the hunt for the ideal anime to watch during Halloween or simply craving something fresh, like the quirky Dan Dan Dan that appeals to both body horror and The X-Files fans. However, when it comes to anime presence in theme parks, North America is currently falling short, but Universal Studios Hollywood aims to rectify this. It’s been officially announced that One Piece and Jujutsu Kaisen will be prominently featured at the California theme park, making it a must-visit for local anime fans.

Beginning Friday, April 15, 2025, the Universal Studios Hollywood branch will commence its Universal Fan Fest Nights, continuing through to Sunday, May 18 on selected days. The initial lineup of experiences includes offerings based on “Star Trek,” “Back to the Future,” and “Dungeons & Dragons,” along with all-new attractions within The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Recently, it’s been announced that “One Piece” and “Jujutsu Kaisen” will also be part of the entertainment roster. Although specific details about the Fan Fest Nights experiences for these new additions haven’t been shared, it’s clear that Universal Studios Hollywood intends to offer something extraordinary for fans of these popular franchises.

To clarify, I haven’t watched Jujutsu Kaisen myself, so I can’t predict the specifics of what Fan Fest Nights might offer for that experience. However, as long as it immerses participants in the world where Yuji Itadori and other Jujutsu Sorcerers handle Cursed Energy, that would be great. In fact, much like One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen can be streamed with a Hulu subscription or on Crunchyroll.

Regarding “One Piece”, having watched it since I started with the live-action adaptation on Netflix (where the anime is also available), I believe I can make a reasonable prediction about the show’s future. Since “One Piece” chronicles the journeys of Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates as they search for the fabled “One Piece” treasure left by Gol D. Roger, the ex-Pirate King, I suspect the second ship of the Straw Hats, the Thousand Sunny, will be rebuilt. Initially, they sailed on the Going Merry, but the Thousand Sunny has a longer history, and fans of “One Piece” would undoubtedly enjoy the feeling of being part of the Straw Hat Pirates’ crew aboard this ship.

Attending Universal Fan Fest Nights will give fans exclusive access to certain attractions at Universal Studios Hollywood after regular hours, such as Jurassic World—The Ride and Revenge of the Mummy—The Ride. The event will also offer a variety of themed food options, new merchandise including collectibles, clothing, drinkware, accessories, and more for fans to purchase and display their fandom. Universal Fan Fest Nights are scheduled from April 25-27; May 2-4, 9-11 and 16-18.
