California Police Department Unveils First Tesla Cybertruck Patrol Car in the Nation

As a seasoned gamer and tech enthusiast with a soft spot for both gaming culture and law enforcement, I find myself utterly captivated by this fusion of innovation and public service. The Irvine Police Department‘s decision to acquire the Tesla Cybertruck as their latest DARE vehicle is nothing short of genius.

Previously this year, a division of Unplugged Performance named UP.FIT unveiled globally the initial Tesla Cybertruck police vehicle. Currently, California’s Irvine Police Department has chosen UP.FIT to present the first Tesla Cybertruck patrol car in the United States.

This week, the Irvine Police Department shared a video on social media showcasing their new truck, which costs approximately $153,175. In their post, they explained that this vehicle will aid their Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program and community outreach initiatives. The police department stated that while the fully-equipped truck won’t be used for regular patrols, it can be deployed in emergencies or to assist the community as needed. For more than three decades, the DARE officers have driven eye-catching and distinctive vehicles that always capture students’ interest. The Irvine Police Department believes in providing continuous education to students and is one of only two such programs in the entire state. They further expressed their desire for unique and creative methods to engage with their community and the youth of Irvine.

The car was debuted in a minute long video that shows the vehicle driving alone at night with lights flashing and dramatic music in the background. Spokesperson Sgt. Karie Davies said, “The Cybertruck is a replacement for another DARE vehicle that has reached its shelf life.” The decision to add the Cybertruck to its fleet comes after news of the car being recalled for the fifth time this year. Take a closer look at the nation’s first in-use Tesla Cybertruck police car.
