As a lifelong fan of all things glamorous and fabulous, attending Nicky Hilton‘s 41st birthday bash was nothing short of a dream come true! The opulence, the star-studded guest list, and the stunning collection of sparkly dresses designed by Rebecca Vallance – it was like stepping into a real-life Barbie Christmas.
Each day feels like a celebration when you’re part of the Hilton family, but there are certain days that stand out as even more jubilant.
On October 5th, Nicky Hilton celebrated her 41st birthday by launching a collaborative capsule collection with Australian designer Rebecca Vallance. The “Nicky Hilton x Rebecca Vallance Holiday Collection” was unveiled in a stylish yet intimate gathering hosted by luxurious online retailer MyTheresa at the Bel Air mansion of her parents, Kathy and Rick Hilton.
The grand mansion was further adorned, if you can imagine, by the arrival of celebrities such as Kris Jenner, Jennifer Tilly, Maria Bakalova from ‘The Apprentice’, Jamie King, Kelly Osbourne, several ‘Real Housewives’, Dylan Mulvaney, Rachel Zoe, and singer Jessie J. The place was also graced by a collection of thirty-one shimmering dresses – mini, midi, and maxi – embellished with Nicky’s favorite feminine touches: bows, rosettes, sequins, stars, and even more sequins.
The birthday girl chose an icy periwinkle sequined mini, her preferred color. Her sister Paris wore its matching version in red, while mom Kathy opted for a black and silver mini. Many female attendees donned the collection’s mini dresses resembling disco balls – often paired with jeweled high heels – making it seem like a Barbie-themed holiday. As expected, the tall Australian designer in blonde hair went with a red satin outfit to complement her shiny lips.
How did Hilton, a mother of three who resides in New York with her husband James Rothschild, cross paths with Vallance, who is based in Sydney?
She wasn’t someone I knew personally, but we shared similar taste in style: playful, feminine, and fun,” she clarified. “Since I had to go to a charity event while expecting, I was on the hunt for the ideal Rebecca dress. Unfortunately, it was out of stock everywhere. So, I decided to reach out to her through direct messages. To my surprise, that message led me to get the dress!
Last year, during her trip to New York, Vallance formed a connection with Hilton over some margaritas, and they started brainstorming ideas for their collaboration. “We’ve been working on these dress designs every day since then, constantly, often using Zoom. When MyTheresa expressed interest, they jumped on board right away. Despite the high price points: $800 and $1200 each, the dresses are selling quickly, with Nicky posing for the lookbook.
Speaking of Hilton’s birthday celebration, it wasn’t just about the visual delights. There was also an array of mouth-watering dishes on offer, such as roasted tenderloin beef, Japanese cured salmon, chicken breast, tomato bruschetta, lamb rack, mini chicken pot pies, cheese puffs, Waygu beef, potato cups filled with caviar, spicy tuna tartare, and a complete chocolate fondue station with pumpkin madeleines. Quite the feast, I must say!
Absolutely, there was a delightful cake too – a beautiful, three-tiered stack of sweetness made from sugar and butter, which Hilton gracefully sliced as her friends sang “Happy Birthday” to her in harmony.
As far as we could tell, though, Nicky never took a bite.
