Netflix Action Movie The Night Comes for Us Gets Sequel Tease From Director

As a seasoned connoisseur of cinematic combat and chilling horror, I can hardly contain my enthusiasm for Timo Tjahjanto’s plans to unleash The Night Comes for Us 2 upon unsuspecting audiences. Having had the privilege of witnessing the masterful martial arts spectacle that was the original film, I eagerly await any further details about its sequel.

Movie director Timo Tjahjanto has hinted at his intentions for a second installment of one of the top martial arts films currently available. He also shared what obstacles need to be overcome to bring this sequel to life. If you’re an action movie enthusiast, and somehow you haven’t heard about it yet, the film in question is “The Night Comes for Us,” which follows the journey of a former enforcer who clashes with the Triads, a fearsome gang he once worked for.

On social media, Timo Tjahjanto hinted that there might be a follow-up to The Night Comes for Us. Although he hasn’t disclosed any specifics yet, he did share with a fan what conditions are necessary to start production of the action sequel on Netflix.

Once I’ve worked on enough movies in the studio, I’ll be ready to direct a self-produced project for Netflix.

In 2018, the action film “The Night Comes for Us” premiered on Netflix, written and directed by Timo Tjahjanto. The star-studded cast includes Joe Taslim, known from “The Raid” and “Mortal Kombat,” alongside his “The Raid” co-star Iko Uwais. This thrilling action movie tells the story of a former friendship turned into enmity between these two characters. The plot follows Taslim as elite Triad assassin Ito, who inadvertently spares a girl’s life during a massacre, making himself a target for an army of ruthless gangsters out for revenge. If this synopsis doesn’t pique your interest, then you might not be as passionate about action movies as you believe.

At its initial release, the Indonesian thriller was swiftly lauded by critics, and it currently boasts an astounding 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The film’s critics have been particularly impressed by its stylish depiction of violence, captivating action scenes, and compelling performances delivered by Taslim and Uwais.

Timo Tjahjanto, the director, is now working on the sequel to the Bob Odenkirk-led movie “Nobody”, which is set to be released soon. He has announced that filming for “Nobody 2” has been completed, adding another Universal Pictures project to his already impressive portfolio. The original “Nobody” was unveiled in 2021 and introduced Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk as an unexpected action hero. Initially appearing as the seemingly ordinary Hutch Mansell, a burglary at his home ignites Hutch’s hidden fury, awakening dormant instincts that lead him on a violent journey revealing concealed secrets and latent abilities.

Details about the storyline for “Nobody 2” are yet unclear, but the script has been penned by Derek Kolstad, who also wrote “John Wick.” Actors such as Connie Nielsen, Christopher Lloyd, Mckenna Grace, Colin Hanks, John Ortiz, and Sharon Stone have joined Bobby Odenkirk for this sequel. “Nobody 2” is set to premiere in theaters on August 15, 2025.

Absolutely, while “Nobody 2” could potentially launch The Night Comes for Us 2, it might just as well be Timo Tjahjanto’s other action flick, “The Shadow Strays”. Scheduled for Netflix release on October 17, this revenge thriller is already being acclaimed as one of the top movies of the year by those who’ve had the chance to watch it early.
