Art the Clown Actor Explains Terrifier 3 Scene He Nearly Couldn't Handle

As a seasoned film enthusiast who has witnessed countless horrors on the silver screen, I must confess that the latest installment of Terrifier 3, starring David Howard Thornton as Art the Clown, is a chilling masterpiece that pushes the boundaries of gore and suspense. The kills in this movie are so gruesome that even the actor playing the terrifying villain was left squirming in disgust.

We recently chatted with actor David Howard Thornton during the unveiling of Terrifier 3, the highly praised new chapter from director Damien Leone, which showcases Art the Clown’s grisliest murders to date. Interestingly, it’s Thornton (the man behind Art) who must enact a deed so disturbing that he himself acknowledged feeling queasy, underscoring the fact that this installment in the series has the most appalling killings by far.

Thornton shared with MovieWeb that there was an incredibly disturbing scene towards the end of the movie which made him extremely uncomfortable, and it’s something he can’t stand in real life as well. He believes Damien deliberately included this scene to annoy him on set. Moreover, the unpleasant atmosphere on set made it even worse as they were filming inside a hot, smelly house. To make matters worse, Samantha Scaffidi, who played Victoria, entered the room while eating a bag of foul-smelling corn nuts, which only intensified the discomfort.

Thornton continued regarding the film’s epic kill moment, which we won’t spoil here:

What Art did was truly appalling, and among all the things I’ve witnessed him do, this stands out as one of the most horrific. To be honest, it struck me as incredibly gruesome.

As a dedicated fan of horror and intense films, I jumped at the opportunity to rejoin the narrative for “Terrifier 3”. I adore the character Sienna and was thrilled to delve deeper into her journey. Given her current mental state, there were numerous directions she could go, and I spent a great deal of time researching these possibilities. Needless to say, I was eager to contribute to the ongoing saga of this captivating character.

From Cineverse, Terrifier 3 is now playing in theaters.
