Ahead Of FBI: Most Wanted's 'Terrifying Fugitive' In The Season 6 Premiere, The Showrunner Provides The Relationship Updates We've Been Waiting For

As a seasoned gamer of both virtual and real-life dramas, I can tell you that CBS’s decision to bring back FBI: Most Wanted to primetime in 2024 has me more excited than a level 90 player on a rare loot drop day! The harrowing start of Season 6 with the brutal murder of a detective and the terrifying fugitive they’re chasing sounds like just the adrenaline rush I need.

In the 2024 TV lineup, CBS is reintroducing the FBI series during prime time, and the sixth season of “FBI: Most Wanted” is set to begin with a gripping premiere on October 15. Showrunner David Hudgins recently spoke with TopMob not only about the villain the team will be pursuing this week, but also provided some updates on the relationships within the cast that viewers have been eagerly anticipating since the Season 5 finale, which ended on a wedding note.

The opening episode for season six is titled “Aquarium Drinker.” It kicks off with a gruesome murder of a detective, and things are only going to get more intense as the episode progresses. In my conversation with David Hudgins regarding the comeback of Most Wanted on CBS, he hinted at the character traits of the villain in the premiere.

In this new season, we intentionally begin with an intimidating fugitive character. Our goal was to create a truly powerful adversary and build tension towards high-stakes situations.

For anyone who has watched the initial five seasons of FBI: Most Wanted (currently streaming with a Peacock subscription), it’s clear that the show is always brimming with challenging villains. However, this premiere promises to be particularly intense, not only due to the dangerous fugitive referred to as “terrifying” by Hudgins.

With Susan Misner reprising her role as Abby, the series “Most Wanted” will delve deeper into the complex aspects of her relationship with Remy. The showrunner has given us a glimpse of how their romance unfolds following a three-month time leap.

Essentially, Remy and Abby are still a couple, navigating long-distance relationships, which seems to be thriving so far. However, the plotline revolving around them this year centers on whether Remy can overcome the challenges of long-distance relationships. Personally, I believe he wants to, given his feelings for her. I also think they both share strong affections. For Remy, it’s a matter of prioritizing someone else equally or even above his work, which is something he struggles with this season as they work through their problems together.

On the TV series FBI: Most Wanted, Remy has been focusing more on his job than his personal life since Dylan McDermott took over from Julian McMahon. It’s yet to be determined if Abby will help him rebalance his priorities. Meanwhile, David Hudgins clarified that Hana is still with Ethan, dismissing my suspicion from the end of Season 5 that Michael Raymond-James’ character might not be as genuine as he seemed.

In Season 5, Barnes’ personal tales were far from “too good.” Given her separation from her wife and the struggle over child custody between Barnes and Charlotte, such a description would not be accurate. The showrunner hinted at Barnes’ future situation and potential areas for development.

Currently divorced, Barnes is the protagonist of our story this year. She’s no longer a spouse but remains a devoted mother, living in D.C. with her children. Instead of dwelling on her newfound singlehood, she’s determined to seize the day and explore her identity further. So, we’ll be following Barnes as she steps out of her comfort zone, creating exciting tales that will take her to unfamiliar territories.

As a gamer, let me tell you, the distance between Washington D.C. and New York City might as well be across different continents when it comes to Barnes’ job! Thankfully, Ray and Cora’s marriage is shaping up to be more resilient than Barnes and Charlotte’s from last season. Following the Season 5 finale that sealed their union, David Hudgins gave us a sneak peek of what we can anticipate in Season 6.

After their wedding, Ray and Cora form a union. However, this year has primarily been about Ray stepping into the role of father for little Caleb. It’s important to note that Ray isn’t Caleb’s biological father; he’s his stepfather. As we progress through the story, we will encounter Caleb’s biological dad, which adds some tension to their relationship.

Actor Edwin Hodge praised Ray taking on the role of Caleb and the introduction of Steven Williams as Ray’s father on FBI: Most Wanted, indicating a substantial storyline for him. As for Nina, her bond with Scola has been solid following last season’s issues, but fresh challenges await her this time. Hudgins mentioned that…

After that, Nina and Scola are each following their own paths. They aren’t married, but we’ve covered stories involving Nina in the past, focusing on her relationship with Scola. This year, however, Nina’s narrative shifts to her personal family matters. We’ll introduce you to her father early on; he travels from Houston to visit along with Nina’s sister. There’s tension between him and Scola, as her father is a down-to-earth Texan man, whereas Scola has more refined origins. This tale promises plenty of fun and also offers insights into Nina’s past and an emotionally charged storyline involving her sister.

It’s intriguing to ponder whether any conflicts from Scola’s storyline on FBI might impact Nina on Most Wanted. John Boyd’s insights about FBI Season 7 hint at a challenging journey for Scola following Tiff’s departure as his partner. Ultimately, it seems that David Hudgins and the team are well-prepared to deliver compelling character narratives alongside the routine weekly cases involving formidable antagonists.

Don’t miss the Season 6 premiere of FBI: Most Wanted on CBS at 10 p.m. Eastern Time, this coming Tuesday, October 15th. The night starts with Jesse Lee Soffer as the new leading man in FBI: International at 9 p.m. ET, followed by FBI at 8 p.m. ET.
