It’s Hard’: Jeff Goldblum Reacts To Jurassic World: Dominion’s Icy Reception From Fans

As a dedicated Jurassic Park fan who has grown up with the franchise, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions when it comes to the latest installments. On one hand, I’m thrilled to see my beloved characters back on screen, but on the other, I’ve been left wanting more dinosaurs and less… bugs? Jeff Goldblum’s recent comments about Jurassic World: Dominion’s reception shed some light on what it’s really like behind the scenes of these blockbuster films.

Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park is considered one of the best sci-fi movies of all time, and changed the film world forever. The franchise has never been far from screens, including the Jurassic World trilogy, and the upcoming Jurassic World: Rebirth movie. And Ian Malcom himself Jeff Goldblum recently offered his response to Dominon‘s poor reception.

Enthusiasm ran high when it was announced that the original cast of Jurassic Park, namely, would be back for Dominion. Regrettably, the reception towards the third installment was frosty, as it appeared to concentrate more on insects rather than dinosaurs. In a recent interview with our affiliate Total Film, the esteemed 71-year-old actor shared his thoughts on the third film’s response, stating:

I truly relished my experience with it. I found joy in working on it and experimenting to make it outstanding. I believe it managed to attract quite a few viewers. However, as you may know, everyone seems to have their own thoughts about it. Creating a great film is indeed challenging. [Laughs]

Despite an earnest effort from the cast of “Jurassic World: Dominion,” the film fell flat with both viewers and critics. The conclusion of “Dominion” marked the end of the trilogy, but we can look forward to revisiting the beloved series soon due to the upcoming film titled “Rebirth.” We’ll have to wait and see if any original characters will make a comeback for this future release.

As I delve into the world of “Jurassic World: Dominion,” Jeff Goldblum’s insights provide a fascinating look behind the scenes of this colossal blockbuster. On paper, it seemed like an unbeatable proposition, leveraging the fan-favorite elements from the preceding two films and reuniting the iconic trio from Steven Spielberg’s original Jurassic Park. I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds!

It’s Hard’: Jeff Goldblum Reacts To Jurassic World: Dominion’s Icy Reception From Fans

Of course, fans will remember that Jeff Goldblum had a small role in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. He basically helped to bookend the blockbuster, warning the world about the chaos of dinosaurs on the mainland. But we got to see him get into the action of Dominion, alongside the new stars as well as Laura Dern and Sam Neill.

Ian Malcolm, portrayed by Goldblum, is perhaps the most significant character in the history of “Jurassic Park”, given his extensive presence across the franchise’s four movies. Although fans may be eager to see him team up with Scarlett Johansson in the upcoming film “Rebirth”, when asked about this prospect, he responded:

I think Ian Malcolm may have ridden off into the sunset. Maybe.

It appears that Jeff Goldblum may not be planning a comeback as Ian Malcolm, although he hasn’t entirely ruled it out. The possibility remains for fans hoping to see him again in future Jurassic Park movies, provided the upcoming “Rebirth” film does well at the box office.

The film titled “Jurassic World: Rebirth” is projected to hit cinemas on July 2, 2025. In the meantime, keep an eye on upcoming movie releases in 2025.
