As a long-time fan of both Fire Country and the world of television, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the addition of Jared Padalecki to Season 3! The fact that his role was created specifically for him, and the wholesome story behind how he got cast, just adds to the excitement.
The upcoming Season 3 of Fire Country is already generating excitement, but what really gets fans pumped is the addition of Jared Padalecki to Max Thieriot’s fire-themed series! As we eagerly wait for his guest role, the show’s main star and executive producer Tia Napolitano has revealed an endearing tale about how they managed to get the Supernatural actor to join CBS’ popular drama.
As Fire Country’s Season 3 premiere nears on the 2024 TV schedule, I had a chat with Thieriot and Napolitano about what to expect. Since it was only natural to bring up the recent news about Padalecki that surfaced during the summer, I asked about it. In response, Jared Padalecki, who plays Bode, revealed during our CinemaBlend interview that this development was due to a lovely fact: he’s close friends with the Walker actor.
For quite some time now, Jared and I have maintained a close friendship, one that has endured without us ever having worked together. Interestingly enough, our families have shared many moments together, including celebrating New Year’s Eve together.
Afterward, the actor mentioned that his friend has been a regular on long-lasting TV series, making it challenging for them to work together. Yet, even though Walker being listed for cancellation in 2024 wasn’t perfect, it did create a fresh opportunity for them, as Thieriot expressed:
Ultimately, his series concluded, which was regrettable, but on the bright side, it opened up the chance for us to collaborate. Interestingly enough, CBS executives, including David Stapf, seem quite supportive of this idea, so we proposed, ‘How about Jared and I team up? What do you all think?’
Everyone found it an excellent suggestion, and as Thieriot pointed out, having him join the cast seemed like a logical choice. Showrunner Tia Napolitano also confirmed this during our pre-premiere interview. She shared that there was widespread excitement about adding the Gilmore Girls actor to their team, and they were eagerly anticipating his arrival.
He was a name that everyone was just immediately very excited about, and then it’s definitely Max and Jared are friends. So Max is saying ‘He’s a great guy. I’m so excited about this.’ We sat down with him, and, you know, it was just the chemistry. We were so excited to get him over here. He’s also a really nice guy, like, just a professional sweetheart, so good, so talented, and he and Max, their chemistry as friends working together and on-screen was just off the charts. So we got very lucky. I was also a huge fan of his all the way back to Gilmore Girls. So it just felt like iconic TV opportunities.
After just a few chats, as Thieriot remembered, Padalekci joined the series.
Importantly, the character in question wasn’t already scripted out prior to the actor from ‘Walker’ joining the team. Instead, it was tailor-made especially for him. Therefore, it was crucial that he accepted the role, as the showrunner explained to me, since the part relied heavily on his participation.
If Jared wasn’t there to join us, it would have been very disappointing for us, as we had written this for him to play along.
Initially, given how popular Padalecki is in the television industry, I would have held similar feelings. But as I delved deeper into his character Camden and discovered possibilities for him to spearhead a “Fire Country” spinoff, my excitement about his role has grown even more intense.
To put it simply, Bode’s friend, who is joining Cal Fire, will offer an exciting twist. This is because he’ll reveal an entirely different aspect of Cal Fire, as portrayed by Camden – a firefighter from Southern California. As Thieriot explained, in this new character’s world, the usual “Wranglers and boots” are swapped for “flip flops and tank tops.” This means he’ll inject a fresh, vibrant vibe into the series, and I must say, I’m quite eager to see how SEAL Team actor describes this development.
His unique vibe significantly enlivens the program, and his lively exchanges with each character are delightful. He undeniably leaves an impressive mark. Thus, I can’t wait for everyone to witness it. I believe the storyline he brought is intriguing. As we move forward, let’s see where things lead. However, it’s clear that he significantly enriches this world.
Without a doubt, Jared Padalecki significantly enhances “Fire Country,” and the heartwarming tale behind his casting makes me grin from one end of my face to the other. The fact that he’s close friends with the drama’s co-creator and leading actor suggests that he’s equally excited about portraying Camden. Moreover, it seems that there are numerous possibilities for where his character’s journey might unfold.
Currently, we’re unsure about the exact date when Jared Padalecki will make an appearance in Season 3, but rest assured, we’ll inform you as soon as we have more details regarding his role. In the meantime, don’t miss out on the Season 3 premiere of Fire Country, airing this Friday, October 18th at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. If you prefer to stream it, a Pramount+ subscription will allow you to watch it the following day.
