Remember when Disney World opened Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind on Memorial Day Weekend a couple of years ago? Well, if this rumor is true, Universal might just outdo them with Epic Universe!

Every year, your beloved theme park introduces something fresh to keep visitors engaged and returning. Both Universal Studios and Disney World introduce new attractions, areas, or dining options annually. However, the theme park industry is particularly exciting in 2025, as it’s not often that entirely new theme parks debut. Epic Universe, slated to open at Universal Orlando Resort in 2025, seems poised for an earlier unveiling than anticipated.

Although we’re well-informed about the various lands and attractions at Epic Universe, what remains uncertain is the exact timing for visitors to explore everything. So far, Epic Universe has only been announced with a broad summer 2025 opening window. However, recent reports in the Wall Street Journal suggest that Universal might be aiming for an even earlier debut, possibly as early as Memorial Day Weekend 2025.

Epic Universe Could Be Opening By Memorial Day Weekend Next Year

Memorial Day Weekend is generally considered as marking the start of summer, even though it falls within spring technically. Typically, it’s when new attractions are unveiled, like Disney World opening the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind roller coaster a couple of years back. However, given the grandeur and size of Epic Universe, many were surprised to hear about its early opening.

It’s important to note that the Memorial Day Weekend has not been set as the official opening date for the new park as of now. This is a tentative suggestion coming from sources familiar with the project. The delay in announcing an opening date seems to be due to Universal’s uncertainty about when Epic Universe will be completed. Initially, they had hoped to finish everything by next May, but if construction is taking longer than expected, then the opening will undoubtedly be postponed.

In Universal Orlando Resort, you’ll find realms devoted to Universal Monsters, How to Train Your Dragon, Nintendo, and the magical world of Harry Potter, making Epic Universe an exciting prospect.
