When Rekha solved Jeetendra's 'income tax problem' by serving snacks to the officer in charge; veteran actor says, 'she is yaaron ka yaar'

As a longtime admirer of Hindi cinema, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the brilliance of actors like Jeetendra and Rekha. Their camaraderie off-screen is as captivating as their performances on it. In a world where genuine friendships are hard to come by, stories like this remind us that there still exists an unyielding bond between these two legends.

Jeetendra, a seasoned actor who debuted in 1964 with “Geet Gaya Patharon Ne,” has been a significant figure in Hindi cinema from the ’60s to the ’80s. Affectionately known as India’s “Jumping Jack,” Jeetendra is admired for his exceptional acting and dancing abilities. It’s interesting to know that, during her time, Rekha, a fellow actor, allegedly resolved Jeetendra’s income tax issue by offering snacks to the responsible officer. More recently, Jeetendra has publicly acknowledged Rekha as a genuine friend.

During a recent conversation with Filmfare, Jeetendra commended Rekha for her kindness during a difficult income tax situation. He reminisced about how his accountant shared that the tax officer admired Rekha greatly and was open to meeting her personally.

Jeetendra recalled discussing his problem with his co-star Rekha during a phone conversation, and she graciously agreed to come to his house. “She went out of her way to be friendly towards the officer,” he said. “Not only that, but she also personally served him some refreshments. I was amazed, and my tax issues were resolved.” The actor from Jeene Ki Raah shared this.

Jeetendra, touched by Rekha’s kind act, expressed that only genuine friends extend help. He further mentioned that Rekha, much like a steadfast rock, has consistently stood as a strong ally throughout their shared journey.

The 82-year-old actor reflected on their shared history, having worked together in more than 30 films. He praised Rekha for her exceptional acting talents and unwavering professionalism. In conclusion, he affectionately referred to her as his cherished friend and a friend of friends.

Jeetendra and Rekha frequently worked together in movies, including titles such as “Maang Bharo Sajana” (1980), “Mera Pati Sirf Mera Hai” (1990), “Jaal” (1986), “Souten Ki Beti” (1989), “Ek Hi Bhool” (1981), “Sadaa Suhagan” (1986), “Jani Dushman” (1979), “Judaai” (1980), and many others.

Besides Caravan, Jeene Ki Raah, Khilona, Dharam Veer, and others, Jeetendra is also known for his roles in various films. On the other hand, Rekha has been a part of well-known movies such as Khoon Bhari Maang, Biwi Ho To Aisi, Bahurani, Koi Mil Gaya, and Khubsoorat, among others.
