Shah Rukh Khan REVEALS future plan after 'living his dream' of working in actioners like Pathaan and Jawan; says, 'I want to do comedy...'

As a die-hard SRK fan who has witnessed his remarkable journey through Bollywood for three decades, I am ecstatic about Shah Rukh Khan’s next move – diving into comedy roles! After conquering action films with Pathaan and Jawan, it’s refreshing to see the King of Bollywood seeking a more light-hearted endeavor. It’s like watching our favorite superhero transition from saving the world to tickling our funny bones!

After the 2018 movie “Zero,” directed by Aanand L Rai, didn’t do well at the box office, Shah Rukh Khan decided to take a break from work for four years. He returned to acting in 2023 with the action-packed film “Pathaan” and further solidified his role as an action hero. Later that year, he also worked on Atlee’s movie “Jawan.” Recently, SRK expressed his future plans, sharing that following his dream of starring in action films like “Pathaan” and “Jawan,” he intends to explore comedy roles instead.

In his most recent podcast appearance on Locarno Meets, Shah Rukh Khan shared his aspiration to participate in a hilarious movie down the line. The renowned actor, affectionately known as King Khan, revealed that he fulfilled his dream with Pathaan and Jawan, and now he’s on the hunt for a more lighthearted project.

30 long years in the film business, and finally, I found myself embodying the hero in an action flick – a dream come true! In another half year, I’m eager to explore comedy and create some lighthearted, delightful cinema.

SRK then joked that he has been waiting for someone to write a comedy film and offer it to him.

For those unfamiliar, the movie Pathaan, featuring SRK, also included Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. Notably, Deepika was also part of another production titled Jawan. The film directed by Atlee, besides SRK and Deepika, featured Nayanthara, Sanya Malhotra, Vijay Sethupathi, and other talented actors as well.

It’s worth mentioning that Shah Rukh Khan received the Pardo Alla Carriera Award at the Locarno Film Festival this August, recognizing his significant contributions to Indian cinema. He traveled to Switzerland to attend the event and graciously accepted the accolade.

Shah Rukh Khan recently appeared in the film “Dunki,” directed by Rajkumar Hirani, which was released in 2023. He worked alongside Taapsee Pannu in this movie. Currently, SRK is preparing for Sujoy Ghosh’s new project titled “King.” This upcoming action film also features Shah Rukh’s daughter, Suhana Khan, in a role. Abhishek Bachchan and Abhay Verma will play significant roles within the movie as well.

Produced by Siddharth Anand, King is eyeing the Eid 2026 release.

Shah Rukh Khan has dabbled in comedic roles in films such as Baadshah, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Chennai Express, Happy New Year, and numerous others where he showcased his humorous side.
