CAA Names Matthew Schuyler as Chief People Officer

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but see similarities between the dynamic world of gaming and the new role taken by Matthew Schuyler at CAA. Just like how a game master orchestrates a seamless experience for players across multiple servers, Schuyler is now tasked with leading and managing a team of over 3,700 employees spread across 20 offices worldwide.

CAA has tapped Matthew Schuyler as its chief people officer.

Schuyler is responsible for leading the human resources and talent management strategy at a global entertainment and sports agency, which encompasses approximately 20 offices and over 3,700 employees worldwide.

He joins CAA with a background of leading international human resources teams at Hilton Worldwide, Capital One, Cisco, and PwC.

Jim Burtson, president of CAA, commented on Matt’s recent hiring, stating that his extensive background in overseeing international HR operations at top-tier corporations demonstrates a profound insight into what drives success within organizations. This includes the ability to cultivate a dedicated, productive workforce and an environment that encourages lifelong learning and advancement opportunities.” (Paraphrased from the original statement)

Speaking as a fan, I’d say, “His impressive business skills, coupled with his track record of growing teams, utilizing technology, and enhancing operational efficiency at highly respected service companies resonates deeply with CAA’s own commitment to providing top-tier service to elite clientele.

As a gamer, I’m excited to share that in 2023, I found myself associating with one of the “Big Three” Hollywood agencies – not just any agency, but CAA, which underwent a significant change. Previously, it was independently run, but then a majority stake was sold to Artémis, an investment firm owned by François-Henri Pinault, the CEO of Kering and the heir to a French luxury goods dynasty.

Additionally, he joins CAA following the ongoing transformation of the talent representation sector within the entertainment industry, which was significantly impacted by the repercussions of the writers’ and actors’ strikes in Hollywood.

As a passionate admirer, I can’t help but praise CAA’s exceptional leadership and vision. This trailblazing organization is fueled by a dynamic international team of gifted and diverse professionals, who thrive in an environment that nurtures creativity, fosters curiosity, and promotes longevity.

As a proud alum, I earned my undergrad degree from Penn State University, and today, I’m honored to serve as the chairman of their esteemed Board of Trustees. Later on, I furthered my education by obtaining an MBA in organizational behavior and human resources management from the University of Michigan.
