Tom Holland Says He Read a ‘Spider-Man 4’ Script With Zendaya, But It “Needs Work”

As a die-hard Marvel fan who has followed Tom Holland‘s journey since his debut as Spider-Man, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and anticipation for the upcoming “Spider-Man 4”. Having witnessed Holland’s growth as Peter Parker both on and off screen, it’s intriguing to see him expressing enthusiasm about the script while acknowledging its need for refinement.

Tom Holland expressed his enthusiasm for “Spider-Man 4,” sharing that he recently went through a draft of the script a couple of weeks back alongside his co-star and partner, Zendaya.

Yet, he has recently expressed on the Rich Roll Podcast that “there’s room for improvement, but the writers are doing an excellent job.” or alternatively, “Although it requires some refinement, he praised the writers as they’re doing well on the Rich Roll Podcast.

Last month, it was exclusively revealed by The Hollywood Reporter that Destin Daniel Cretton is discussing the possibility of directing the fourth part of the popular superhero series. This would replace Jon Watts in the director’s chair.

When discussing the creation process for “Spider-Man 4,” Tom Holland stated, “It’s crucial to remember that each movie is like a small part in a huge system with Marvel. This machine must keep moving, and it’s important to find the right moment to slot in so we can contribute to the bigger story. One of the hurdles we face is making sure we can complete the project within the required timeframe, but given the talented team we have on board, I believe it’s definitely possible.

The actor from “The Crowded Room” commented that they currently have a creative concept, a proposal, and a draft for the movie, all of which are outstanding.

The writers are doing an excellent job, though there’s still some work needed,” he went on. “I read it three weeks back and it sparked something within me. Zendaya and I both had a chance to read it together, and at times we were jumping around our living room, exclaiming, ‘This is a movie worthy of the fans’ admiration!’ However, there are a few aspects we need to clarify before we can truly bring it to life, but it’s an exciting prospect.

Tom Holland has portrayed Spider-Man/Peter Parker in three independent movies alongside Zendaya’s MJ character, namely “Spider-Man: Homecoming” (2017), “Spider-Man: Far From Home” (2019) and “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (2021). He has also made appearances in various other Marvel films like “Avengers: Endgame” (2019) and “Avengers: Infinity War” (2018).

In an interview with Collider last year, the actor expressed a willingness to return as his superhero character, providing that the narrative would appropriately develop and honor the character.

Speaking as a devoted fan, I can honestly say that Spider-Man holds a special place in my heart. Not only have I been fortunate enough to contribute to this incredible franchise, but it’s grown and thrived with each new film – something that rarely happens. As such, I feel a deep responsibility to safeguard his legacy. Therefore, any future project would need to be truly significant and worthy of the character, not just for the sake of producing another movie.
