Stranger Things’ David Harbour Says Cast Cried ‘Uncontrollably’ in Finale

Stranger Things' David Harbour Says Cast Cried 'Uncontrollably' in Finale

As a dedicated fan of Stranger Things, it is with a mix of anticipation and melancholy that I eagerly await the final season. The journey of this extraordinary group of characters has been nothing short of phenomenal, and watching them grow up on screen feels like witnessing the passage of time itself.

The fifth season of the hit series “Stranger Things” is nearing its conclusion, and the cast appears to be handling the potential end of the show as well as could be expected. David Harbour, who will return as Jim Hopper, has revealed that the table reading for the final episode took place not too long ago. Predictably, the emotional session was met with heartfelt sobs from both the cast and crew, many of whom grew up working on “Stranger Things”.

Actor David Harbour shared insights about the concluding part of ‘Stranger Things’ on the Happy Sad Confused podcast (as reported by People). The fifth season, which is in its final stages of production, has consumed a significant portion of the year. During the table read for the last episode of the Netflix series, the entire cast and crew were in attendance. As anticipated, discovering the ending of ‘Stranger Things’ turned out to be an emotional journey for a young cast who matured while filming the show. Harbour stated that at some point, everyone was unable to hold back tears.

During the midpoint of that episode while we were simply reading along, emotions began to stir, leading to tears from many. Towards the final 20 minutes, it turned into an overwhelming outburst of sobs, a wave of various individuals. My personal favorite throughout this emotional rollercoaster was Noah Schnapp.

It wasn’t clear if the tears were solely because some key characters had died, but it seems likely that the realization they were nearing the end of their shared adventure greatly contributed. As Harbour mentions, the intensity of their reactions was partly due to “the fact that these children, it was their childhood” on set. Even though many younger actors from Stranger Things are now branching out, ending the show must feel like a substantial loss in their lives.

The Wait for Stranger Things is Nearly Over

Despite being hailed as one of the best series ever produced by Netflix, Stranger Things has faced a fair amount of criticism lately. Originally a modest tribute to ’80s classics, it transformed into a blockbuster sensation that took years to produce between seasons. This long wait was unusual for small-screen television, making fans anxious. While the fourth season boasted stunning visuals and sound effects, the aging actors playing teenagers became noticeable quickly. Fortunately, we can expect the next season to premiere on Netflix relatively soon.

It’s yet to be announced when exactly “Stranger Things” Season 5 will premiere, but one of its stars, Gaten Matarazzo, hinted back in September that fans can expect to watch the last season as early as 2025 with The Direct.

The goal for this project to be unveiled is undeniably in the coming year. However, keep in mind that there may be unexpected delays or complications when producing such a large-scale season. Therefore, while there are no absolute assurances, I believe it’s quite likely that we’ll see it next year.
