Bill Maher Says There Are “Better Odds of Another ‘Joker’ Musical” Than Trump Getting Knocked Out of Election With “October Surprise”

As a seasoned gamer who has survived countless political campaigns and their twists and turns, I can’t help but chuckle at Bill Maher‘s latest rant about the October surprise. Having witnessed the rollercoaster that is American politics for decades now, I can confidently say that I’ve seen more plot twists in this game than in any grand strategy title!

As the 2024 presidential election draws near within a few short weeks, Bill Maher is encouraging everyone to cease anticipating a surprising event in October that might prevent a second term for Donald Trump.

During his “New Rules” segment on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher last Friday, the host contended that even the most heinous crimes by the previous president would not significantly impact public opinion or knock Donald Trump off the political stage.

He’s had relations with a porn actress, attempted a coup, and even stolen from charities. If you’re hoping for an October surprise to bring him down, don’t count on it. The chances of another ‘Joker’ musical hitting the stage are more likely,” is one way to paraphrase Maher’s statement.

The comedian went on to say, “Last week, Trump suggested that the method depicted in ‘The Purge’ movies could be effective for combating crime. Interestingly, he’s the only candidate whose supporters secretly hope he won’t fulfill his election pledges.

Maher pointed out that Democrats have grown accustomed to anticipating an “October surprise” in elections, so much so that its absence feels unusual, almost as if a party at Diddy’s house lacks excitement. However, he also noted that voters who have witnessed numerous election events might not be easily surprised anymore.

As a devoted supporter, I’d put it this way: “The Access Hollywood tape in 2016 was a surprising twist, often seen as a game-changer, particularly given the social stigma against inappropriate behavior such as groping. Many believed this could be the turning point, but remarkably, he still managed to secure the victory that year. Notably, even James Comey, appalled by it, decided to reopen an investigation into Hillary Clinton just a few weeks later.

As a devoted follower, I’ve come to understand why Trump’s scandals seem to have little effect on his election standing among his supporters. It’s because, much like how Post Malone’s new tattoo blends into his already heavily-inked visage, Trump’s consistent and omnipresent bad behavior has become so familiar that it’s no longer seen as extraordinary.

Nevertheless, the host noted that Kamala Harris could potentially be impacted by an unexpected development closer to the election, given her relatively undecided political stance.

In the most recent broadcast of Real Time, it was David Hogg, Mark Cuban, and Joe Scarborough who were special guests.
