Spider-Man 2 Gives Fan One Good and One Terrible Piece of News

As a long-time Spider-Man fan who has seen countless iterations of our friendly neighborhood hero, I must admit that this recent turn of events left me hanging like Spidey does off a skyscraper without his web-shooters. The absence of DLC for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a bit of a bummer, especially after the tantalizing glimpses we got into potential storylines involving some of my favorite villains.

It appears that the leaks have put Insomniac Games in a difficult position, leading them to announce that they will not release any DLC for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 as initially planned.

A PlayStation blog post recently revealed that Spider-Man 2 will be available on PC as of January 30, but it also mentioned that no extra content is planned for the game.

The news has struck fans like a heavy blow, as they had been eagerly anticipating additional content that might delve deeper into plot threads hinted at in the main game, particularly regarding some of the villains in the Spider-Man universe. Although specifics are being kept under wraps to avoid spoilers, it appears that an upcoming side quest seems poised to develop one of the most well-known antagonists from the Spider-Man series. Unfortunately, there’s a chance we may not get to witness this story unfold.

As a gamer, I’m still trying to wrap my head around the recent game data breach, but word on the street is that it might be behind some of the leaked info. It seems like they were planning some exciting add-ons, such as a Spider-Verse-themed expansion and two more focused on the Beetle and Carnage respectively.

It seems illogical not to include Downloadable Content (DLC) for such a significant release, as demonstrated by the initial title launched in 2018 which featured three expansions that further developed characters and plotlines hinted at in the primary game.

It’s possible that a solo Venom movie could be in development, much like the 2020 Spider-Man: Miles Morales game. However, at this stage, it’s all speculation. Fingers crossed that some of the abandoned DLC ideas related to the symbiote might find their way into a future project about Venom.

It’s clear that Insomniac has definite plans for the conclusion of the Peter and Miles trilogy, and it seems almost certain that we will see a third game in this series. Simultaneously, they are also developing a game featuring Wolverine.

The studio has been dealing with quite a bit lately, yet they’ve consistently excelled in their work over the past few years, and I don’t see that trend ending any time soon.
