FX & Ryan Murphys Horror Show Grotesquerie Gets Exiting Season 2 Update

As a movie enthusiast with over two decades of immersion in the silver screen, I must say that the prospect of another season of FX’s Grotesquerie is nothing short of exhilarating. Having witnessed the intricate narrative tapestries woven by Ryan Murphy and his collaborators in series such as American Horror Story and Feud, I am confident that Grotesquerie will continue to captivate audiences with its unique blend of horror, drama, and religious themes.

The horror drama series “Grotesquerie,” produced by Ryan Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz, and Joe Baken, might continue for a second season. The story revolves around Detective Lois Tryon (Niecy Nash) and Sister Megan (Micaela Diamond), who investigate a string of disturbing murders with religious undertones in a small town. Critics have been impressed by the series, particularly its surprising twist at the end of the last episode titled “Unplugged.” With new episodes airing until October 30, it appears that there’s a strong possibility this show will come back for another season, as suggested by comments from creators Ryan Murphy and FX Chairman of FX Content & FX Productions John Landgraf.

Currently, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Landgraf touched upon the potential for additional seasons of the show “Grotesquerie,” likening it to a set of Russian matryoshka dolls, each one revealing a new layer.

We’re strongly contemplating expanding this project further, as it’s quite intricate and layered, much like Russian nesting dolls. You’ve just peeled off one layer, revealing another. There are additional layers hidden within these, and you won’t fully grasp the essence of it until the end. However, once you reach the climax, there’s an entire narrative that unfolds within this reality, which shares many similarities with our own.

Murphy is particularly recognized for his contributions to the television series titled “American Horror Story“. Each season of this horror anthology show (jointly created by Brad Falchuk), presents a self-contained narrative, with several of its skilled actors reprising roles in different characters. Besides being associated with other anthologies like “Feud, Monster,” and “American Crime Story“, the series “Grotesquerie” might not adopt a similar pattern if it comes back for Season 2. Landgtraf disclosed:

As a film enthusiast, I can understand why some might compare the upcoming series to ‘American Horror Story’, as its narrative structure remains unclear to them. However, let me assure you, by the climax of the story, it will be evident that this isn’t just a standalone tale; instead, it marks the beginning of an exciting new series.

The showrunner of Grotesquerie, Landgraf, hints at an exciting, suspenseful ending in the final episode that will likely lead to a second season. Although FX hasn’t confirmed anything yet, Landgraf’s remarks suggest a continuation. The series, featuring Nash, Diamond, Courtney B. Vance, and Nicholas Alexander Chavez, can be streamed on Hulu. Fresh episodes air every Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET on FX until October 30.

As a devoted cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that Murphy’s current lineup includes the gripping tale of the Menendez brothers, “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story”, sports drama “American Sports Story”, and sci-fi adventure “Doctor Odyssey”. Moreover, this creative powerhouse has an impressive array of upcoming projects brewing. These include “The Beauty”, a thought-provoking exploration of a sexually transmitted disease that enhances attractiveness, the female-centric legal drama “All’s Fair”, a shift in focus for “Monster” towards the intriguing story of Ed Gein (to be portrayed by Charlie Hunnam), and season 13 of the chilling anthology series “American Horror Story”. Although specific details about the next season are under wraps, there’s a possibility that some of the show’s beloved cast members might reunite.

Murphy revealed that he recently had an enjoyable chat with Sarah Paulson, and she suggested, “It seems like it’s high time we reunite the band, so let’s start making some calls now.
