Netflix Developing Film Adaptation of Rebecca Yarros Novel ‘In the Likely Event’ (Exclusive)

As a devoted reader of heart-wrenching romance novels, I couldn’t be more excited about Netflix adapting Rebecca Yarros’ masterpiece, “In the Likely Event.” With her rich background as a military wife and a bestselling author, Yarros has a unique ability to craft deeply emotional stories that resonate with readers worldwide. The fact that this book was born out of her husband’s deployment in Afghanistan adds an extra layer of authenticity that I can’t wait to see brought to life on the screen.

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s exclusive report, Netflix plans to adapt “In the Likely Event,” a book written by author Rebecca Yarros from Fourth Wing.

The film, scripted by Lindsey Ferrentino (one of five films she’s penning for the streaming service), is a love story between Nate, an American soldier, and Izzy, a congressional assistant, unfolding amidst the conflict in Afghanistan. The novel was initially released in August 2023.

In the event ‘In the Likely Event’ becomes a reality, Brian Williams will oversee it for Dylan Clark Productions, while Kira Cousineau will do so for Netflix. Yarros expressed his excitement about collaborating with Dylan Clark Productions and Netflix to adapt this book. The story holds great personal significance for him, and he eagerly anticipates seeing the characters Nate and Izzy brought to life by a dedicated and thoughtful production team.

Recently, Ferrentino discussed with THR her extensive lineup of projects: “I feel a tremendous responsibility to meet the intensity of Rebecca Yarros‘ fanbase, and I’m eager for this challenge. Just like all of Rebecca’s novels, it’s an epic, sprawling story, and what she excels at is creating intricate, complex worlds.

She went on to say: “This marks my fifth collaboration with Netflix, a nurturing environment where I’ve been able to create numerous projects. With every project I’ve penned for them, they’ve given me room to expand my creative canvas. The adaptation of ‘Rebecca Yarros’ book is the largest-scale story I’ve tackled so far, and I am profoundly thankful for this chance.
