As a seasoned storm-chaser and avid movie enthusiast, I can hardly contain my excitement for Universal’s “Twisters” hitting Peacock on November 15! Having lived through a few close encounters with Mother Nature’s fury myself, I can relate to the characters in this film – the adrenaline rush, the fear, and the uncontrollable urge to chase the next big storm.
Universal’s highly anticipated summer blockbuster “Twisters” is set to debut on Peacock, perfect for holiday viewing! Beginning November 15th, the action-packed drama “Twisters,” featuring Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, Anthony Ramos, and other prominent actors, will be ready to stream on Peacock.
The Peacock streaming platform is set to premiere an acclaimed movie that has previously had a successful run in theaters. This film boasts an impressive ensemble cast featuring the talents of Edgar-Jones, Powell, Ramos, Brandon Perea, David Corenswet, Maura Tierney, Sasha Lane, and others!
Twisters delivers an adrenaline-pumping return of the blockbuster disaster genre, filled with pulse-racing actions and spine-tingling excitement.
Since the traumatic experience of facing a tornado, Kate (Daisy Edgar-Jones) abandoned her pursuit of chasing storms across the Oklahoma plains to instead study them safely in New York City on screens. However, tempted by her friend Javi (Anthony Ramos) and an extraordinary scientific opportunity, Kate finds herself drawn back into the field. Her path crosses with Tyler (Glen Powell), a charismatic risk-taker who labels himself a tornado wrangler and has gained fame through his social media storm-tracking exploits. As the intensity of the storm season escalates with unparalleled, terrifying phenomena, Kate and Tyler come to understand that they might need to collaborate if they hope to control – and survive – an unprecedented onslaught of devastating tornadoes.
Executing such actions often involves daring maneuvers, and, as the stars shared with NBC Insider prior to the movie’s release on July 19, pulling off these stunts wasn’t a simple task.
Edgar-Jones clarified that he hadn’t performed such daring stunts or large-scale set pieces before. In this scene, a massive F5 tornado is simulated, and something causes a water tower to collapse on us. To replicate the force of the water rushing us down the street, we had to stage this event.
She recalled the moment when the three of us were on the street, gazing at a water tank and them tallying up because they were discharging an enormous amount of water. In response, I exclaimed, “Oh my gosh,” as a massive wave erupted from it. As we waited for it to reach us, she mentioned that the experience was truly exhilarating.
Powell, meanwhile, really felt the pressure in the moment to get it right.
On one particular occasion, I truly experienced the weight of the situation in a scene set in Crystal Springs town, immediately following a massive catastrophe, Powell explained. The production team had labored extensively to replicate a community, aiming to depict accurately what it would be like for a town to endure tornadoes.
He explained, “Some houses remain intact, others are partially destroyed and some have been utterly demolished.” He added, “They constructed an incredible set, but there aren’t many scenes filmed there. It’s only two brief sequences that occur in this location. I thought to myself, ‘If we make a mistake here, they’ll never forgive me if these carefully crafted scenes are removed from the film!’
Universal’s biggest films of the year stream first on Peacock, shortly after their theatrical debuts. Subscribers get access to award-winning films and blockbuster favorites from Universal, Illumination, Blumhouse, Focus Features and DreamWorks Animation. In 2024, Peacock will debut films including Oppenheimer, Trolls Band Together, Kung Fu Panda 4, Monkey Man, The Fall Guy, Despicable Me 4, Twisters, and Speak No Evil.
