As a seasoned industry insider with a diverse background that spans journalism, public relations, and film production, I am thrilled to welcome Andrew Stewart to his new role as the Chief Communications Officer at NATO. His extensive experience in navigating the ever-changing media landscape, coupled with his deep understanding of the entertainment industry, makes him the perfect choice for this position.

As a gamer, I’m thrilled to share that the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO) has appointed a new head of communications. The role goes to none other than Andrew Stewart!

In his latest position, he will spearhead every initiative related to NATO’s communication and public relations tactics, with a focus on showcasing live performance as the premier out-of-house entertainment option for both present and upcoming audiences. Additionally, he will strive to increase understanding of the crucial part exhibitions play in the thriving entertainment sector, while also charting its future course. This includes advocating for the outcomes of the recent $2.2 billion investment by the exhibition industry towards modernizing and enhancing theaters of all scales over the next three years.

Stewart will work out of NATO’s Los Angeles headquarters, with his supervisor being the current President and CEO of NATO, Michael O’Leary.

For Stewart, the top immediate focus lies on CinemaCon – an annual gathering hosted by NATO every spring in Las Vegas. O’Leary is eager to boost the event’s influence and enhance its visibility among members, vital figures within the industry, press, and the broader public.

As a gamer, I was truly blown away by Andrew’s relentless determination and tactical genius in adapting to today’s dynamic media terrain. In his new role, Andrew will be an indispensable asset, ensuring that our exhibition remains a key player in the ongoing discourse about the future of cinematic entertainment.

Speaking for myself, I find storytelling to be the essence of communication, so when the chance arose to join an esteemed organization like NATO to share their narrative within the exhibition community, it felt almost too good to be true. Frankly, I can’t contain my enthusiasm! I’m eager to dive right in and pull back the curtains, revealing the next captivating chapter in the theatrical exhibition story.

Lately, Stewart held the position of Vice President at 42West, overseeing the Los Angeles team within their Strategic Communications Division. His work encompassed a diverse array of clients from different sectors such as entertainment, gaming, technology, social impact, and crisis management. Before that, he occupied several communication positions for Participant and IMAX Corporation. While at Participant, he was involved in campaigns for successful films like Wonder, The Post, and the Academy Award-winning Green Book.

To begin with, Stewart kickstarted his professional journey as an entertainment news reporter at the prestigious publication Variety. In this role, he delved into topics such as box office performance, film distribution, digital streaming platforms, on-demand services, independent films, and theater screenings. As a testament to his exceptional work, Stewart has received numerous accolades from the Southern California Journalism Awards in recognition of his journalistic achievements.
