As a seasoned gamer with over 20 years of immersion into the world of TV shows and medical dramas, I can confidently say that the latest development in Chicago Med has piqued my interest. The arrival of new characters, particularly Dr. Lenox, has added a fresh layer of intrigue to an already captivating series.
Chicago Med began its Season 10 in the autumn 2024 TV lineup, introducing some significant alterations, not just in production with the arrival of a new showrunner, Allen MacDonald, but also within the ER itself. Two fresh doctors have joined the team, coincidentally debuting as Halloween festivities unfold on October 23rd. However, one doctor seems to lack the holiday cheer when the episode premieres. As some characters immerse themselves in full pop culture with Barbie and Minions costumes, new series regular Sarah Ramos shared with TopMob why Dr. Lenox will continue to don scrubs rather than join in the Halloween fun.

What Sarah Ramos Told Us About Dr. Lenox
In Season 10, Dr. Lenox wasn’t met with a particularly friendly greeting. This was largely due to Dr. Archer, who isn’t known for gently introducing newcomers to the ER, even when they aren’t stepping into half his role. Nevertheless, Dr. Lenox swiftly demonstrated her ability to manage the department effectively. However, her efficiency hasn’t won her favor among her new coworkers.
According to Sarah Ramos, who noted that Lenox could potentially lose her job if she treated Archer the way Archer treats her, it’s understandable that she won’t be participating in their Halloween festivities. Sarah shared this information with me.
The Halloween special is quite enjoyable! To be honest, Lenox doesn’t participate in dressing up for Halloween. I can see you find that surprising. [laughs] You know why? That’s because Halloween happens to be one of the busiest nights at the Emergency Department, and Lenox is all about being prepared and helping people. She’s not there for trick-or-treating.
For clarification purposes – I wasn’t taken aback, but it was entertaining to witness Ramos poking fun at her character, demonstrating that she as an actress is unique from her serious on-screen persona. Moreover, judging by the episode preview titled “Bad Habits – Halloween,” there’s no doubt that the emergency department will be full of mayhem in this upcoming installment.
Could it be the anticipated disorder that’s keeping Lenox from donning costumes, or is there another explanation? Upon observing that I found it challenging to envision her character wearing a costume at this stage of the series, Ramos suggested:
In the role of Lenox, I feel empathy, yet I can’t help but feel that the Emergency Department hasn’t been particularly inviting. As a result, Lenox tends to keep her thoughts and preferences hidden, and it seems unlikely that she feels comfortable sharing her favorite TV show characters or personal interests with others in this environment at the moment.
Lucky for me, this season of “Chicago Med” is diving deep into Lenox’s past, whether she decides to share or not. Showrunner Allen McDonald hinted that Season 10 will offer glimpses into her background and the reasons behind her personality as it unfolds. Could Halloween 2025 be a different story?
The Rest Of The ED Dresses Up
Although Lenox prefers to wear her lab coat and scrubs, not everyone else follows suit! My personal favorite is when Hannah and Ripley dressed up as Barbie and Ken from “Barbie” for two primary reasons. Firstly, both actors naturally have blonde hair, but they’re sporting wigs for the costumes.
Next, it’s worth noting that Barbie concludes with Margot Robbie’s character visiting a gynecologist. Whether or not this is a subtle reference to Hannah’s role as an OB/GYN in the ED, I find it intriguing. Let’s examine it:
In Season 10, Dr. Frost, our latest character, found an ideal appearance to fit his role as the Emergency Department’s new pediatrician. For Halloween, he opted for a set of overalls, goggles, and a bright yellow shirt, transforming himself into a Minion.
As a passionate fan, I chose a Chicago-style costume, donning the attire of a Chicago Blackhawks hockey player. Admittedly, my knowledge of Windy City hockey isn’t extensive, but it appears she’s sporting number 31. Interestingly, that number doesn’t seem to be on the current Blackhawks roster, leading me to speculate that her jersey might have a personalized touch!
Dr. Charles is getting into the Halloween mood, too, but his selection might not be as contemporary as Barbie and Ken from 2024. However, Sherlock Holmes appears to be an apt pick for our ED psychiatrist given his extensive history of unraveling mental puzzles by tracking down clues over almost a decade (or more recently if you’ve subscribed to Peacock).
You might not expect these characters to be in full costumes throughout the story, as the preview for the Halloween episode hints that the impending crises won’t allow for much time for dressing up. Here’s a glimpse of the turmoil they’re facing:
Don’t forget to catch NBC on Wednesday, October 23 at 8 p.m. ET for a special Halloween episode of Chicago Med. This will be followed by Chicago Fire at 9 p.m. ET and Chicago P.D. at 10 p.m. ET. While it seems neither Fire nor P.D. are planning to incorporate Halloween costumes, it’d be exciting if little Makayla on P.D. had a fun costume moment. After all, these shows could use a bit of light-heartedness, and it looks like the light-heartedness won’t last long on Med this week.
