As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for fashion and cinema, I must say that Kareena Kapoor Khan’s journey in the world of Bollywood is nothing short of extraordinary. Her iconic peach-colored outfit from Bole Chudiyan, a testament to Manish Malhotra’s genius, has not only left an indelible mark on popular culture but also boosted sales of similar lehengas.
One of the most beloved films from commercial cinema over the past few decades is Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, appreciated for its characters, dialogue, plot, and costumes – particularly Kareena Kapoor’s striking peach-colored outfit in Bole Chudiyan. This ensemble caused quite a stir in popular culture upon the film’s release, and it’s no secret that fashion designer Manish Malhotra saw increased sales of the ‘lehenga’ after Kareena donned it during K3G’s song. Since then, Kareena herself has acknowledged that this outfit has remained a trendsetter.
At the NDTV World Summit 2024, Kareena Kapoor Khan fondly recalled her memorable costume from the song “Bole Chudiyan” in Karan Johar’s movie, “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham”. Kareena credited Manish Malhotra for designing the outfit that contributed to its success.
At the event, Kareena stated that Manish had been selling many lehengas because people adored its color, style, and tune. She mentioned that it has been quite popular lately, and she feels fortunate to be a part of this trend.
Kareena wore an outfit consisting of a peach top and palazzo pants, which made it seem like she was wearing a fish-tail style lehenga.
Previously, during the Kareena Kapoor Khan Film Festival, the actress expressed her affection for repeatedly watching Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham from 2001. Kareena openly admitted to being a devoted fan of this film and emphasized her fondness for themes like family, tradition, and warmth.
In simpler terms, the actress from K3G mentioned that she played the role of Poo according to the director’s, Karan’s, guidance.
The well-known song “Bole Chudiyan” from the movie Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham featured an ensemble cast that included Hrithik Roshan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Amitabh Bachchan, and Jaya Bachchan. In the film K3G, Kareena was paired opposite Hrithik, while Shah Rukh and Kajol were romantically involved on screen. Amitabh and Jaya played the roles of their respective on-screen parents in the movie.
The 2001 film also featured Rani Mukerji in an extended guest appearance.
In terms of her professional life, Kareena Kapoor recently appeared in Hansal Mehta’s film “The Buckingham Murders” this year. Besides Karan Johar’s “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham,” she is widely recognized for films such as “Chameli,” “Omkara,” “Jab We Met,” “Udta Punjab,” “Tashan,” “Golmaal Returns,” “Chup Chup Ke,” and numerous others.
