As a seasoned anime enthusiast with over two decades of viewing under my belt, I must say that October 2024 looks like an absolute feast for the eyes! With so many long-awaited sequels and exciting new series on the horizon, it seems as though the creators have taken pity on us poor souls who’ve been waiting patiently for our favorite stories to continue.
This October has been simply marvelous for the world of anime, offering a wealth of fresh and ongoing shows that have kept viewers hooked on their screens. Although fans of “Blue Lock” experienced a slight letdown due to a noticeable drop in animation quality, unwavering anime enthusiasts were rewarded with numerous top-notch series like “Dandadan”, “Re: Zero”, and “Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War”.
As we transition into next month, things might seem a bit slower, but don’t let that worry you! Although the selection may not be as extensive as last month, there are still some captivating anime shows to anticipate. Ranging from an intriguing series based on board games to the long-awaited continuation of an anime spinoff from the beloved Pokémon universe, here’s a rundown of November’s exciting anime lineup for you to enjoy!
Dragon Ball Daima
Streaming now on Crunchyroll and Hulu
Just a few months have passed since the creator of Dragon Ball, Akira Toriyama, departed, and the latest release in the series, Dragon Ball Daima, seems like an emotional goodbye to the deceased mangaka. In Dragon Ball Daima, Goku and his friends are shrunk due to a secret plot and transported to a realm called the “Demon Realm,” a setting that resurrects classic Goku on screen.
While Dragon Ball may persist as a franchise, this specific project that Toriyama was directly involved in has come to an end. The anime started airing on October 11th and new episodes are released weekly until November. If you haven’t seen the latest episode yet, you can catch up with it now on Crunchyroll and Hulu.
Future Folktales 2
Streaming on HIDIVE on November 3
After taking a four-year hiatus, the anime series titled “Future’s Folktales” resumed its run. From April 2020 to June 2020, it showcased 13 captivatingly told and animated episodes. In the second season, we delve deeper into the narratives, as Asma shares more stories about her Arabic heritage, passing them down to her grandchildren.
The anime stands out for being set in a future where technology, such as VR, rules the globe. This unique scenario presents Asma’s attempt to impart life lessons to her grandchildren through Arabic folktales, which is not often portrayed. Future Folktales Season 2 premieres on HIDIVE starting Nov. 3.
Murder Mystery of the Dead
Streaming on ABC Television on November 14
Titled “Mystery Amongst the Departed,” this upcoming anime production is derived from a board game of identical name, jointly produced by ABC Animation (Free!) and Balus. This supernatural mystery series unfolds in a world post-zombie outbreak, where our protagonist, Mikoto Amano, mysteriously awakens without any recollection of the past.
In a fateful encounter with a band of young women named Ranna, Yuu, Lili, Fumika, Murumuru, and Rumina, Amano decides to team up with them for survival purposes. However, the situation takes a grim turn when one of their group is viciously slain. With the perpetrator still at large, the remaining girls find themselves in a precarious position, needing to formulate a strategy to defend themselves against both zombies and an imposter.
Pokémon Horizons: The Series (Part 4)
Streaming on Netflix on November 22
The Netflix anime series titled “Pokémon Horizons: The Series” is a spin-off from the manga “Pocket Monsters: Liko’s Treasures,” premiering on April 14, 2023, and currently airing in three installments. But don’t think Liko and Roy’s escapades have reached their end; they will be back for another round of anticipated Pokémon battles in Part 4!
The official synopsis of Pokémon Horizons: The Series Part 4 is described as follows:
In Part 4, the Rising Volt Tacklers are planning a trip to Paldea, but they’re facing a challenge – they’re out of money! To make ends meet, Friede takes on various odd jobs. Some of these tasks include locating a lost Bramblin and shifting rocks from a research site that’s under threat from wild Pokémon. At the same time, a timid Oinkologne, a separated Tandemaus, and hammer-enthusiast Tinkatink receive assistance from Liko, Roy, Dot, and the rest of the Rising Volt Tacklers. However, when Sprigatito runs away and Dot’s mother arrives, the group must confront some significant choices. Later, Liko and Roy encounter a superhero Pokémon, and the emergence of a mysterious tower hints at the Explorers’ most ambitious plan yet…
