As someone who’s spent countless hours navigating the intricate worlds of dystopian games, I must say Black Border 2 has piqued my interest like a border guard’s nose at the scent of illicit goods. The game promises an authentic experience of being a customs officer in a totalitarian state, and while I’m not sure how they plan to measure ‘authenticity’, I’m intrigued.
Although your work may be challenging, consider this: You could be a border guard in a fictional Eastern-European dystopia during the 1960s. Surprisingly, that sounds intriguing to you? Great news! If so, then Bitzooma has exactly what you’re looking for as Black Border 2 launches today.
At first sight, it might appear that Black Border 2 borrows some elements from games such as Papers, Please. This isn’t necessarily a negative aspect, considering that Black Border 2 blends the satisfying monotony of signing and verifying documents with more game-like features, like expanding your border checkpoint with an array of novel structures.
Previously mentioned, the initial Black Border may have had a rather ordinary clip-art appearance, but Black Border 2 seems significantly improved with its dark yet cartoony design. Although I harbor some doubts about its assertion of providing an “authentic” experience (given that it’s challenging to quantify such a concept), I am inclined to believe it could potentially lead to a more inventive gaming experience.
My hovercraft is full of eels
I admit it’s not necessarily a cheerful topic but I can definitely see the appeals in exploring the often money-greased wheels of totalitarian border patrol. And while it doesn’t have the minimalist artsiness of a game like Papers, Please, for better or worse I’d say that will make it more appealing to a wider audience.
You can grab Black Border 2 right now on the iOS App Store and Google Play to give it a try for yourself!
