Balatro Friends of Jimbo 2 is available now: Feeds Slay the Spire, Stardew Valley and more into the chaos engine

  • Cyberpunk, Stardew Valley and more join The Witcher as custom face cards in Balatro
  • It’s the second update this year, bringing the overall total of partners to eight
  • The update is available right now, for free

As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I must say this latest update for Balatro has truly piqued my interest. Being an avid fan of deckbuilders and roguelikes, the addition of popular titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Slay the Spire, Binding of Isaac, and Stardew Valley as custom face cards is nothing short of exhilarating.

If you’ve ever pondered about what Keanu Reeves might look like as a face card in the game Balatro, your curiosity can finally be put to rest. Notably, Cyberpunk 2077, among other intellectual properties, has recently joined forces with Balatro, which is known for its deckbuilding roguelike mechanics.

By the way, if you’ve been pondering about it, it seems like your thoughts on this particular topic are quite peculiar and they happen to be met with a satisfying response at the moment.

Besides Cyberpunk 2077, characters hailing from popular roguelikes such as The Silent from Slay the Spire and Isaac from The Binding of Isaac, along with figures from Stardew Valley, have also made their way in. This decision certainly adds an intriguing twist to the game.

If you’re wondering, The Binding of Isaac, Heart of Cyberpunk 2077, Slay the Spire, and Stardew Valley can be found under Hearts, Spades, Clubs, and Diamonds respectively.

Similar to our previous collaboration with The Witcher, Dave the Diver, Among Us, and Vampire Survivors, these are new designs for our Face cards (Jack, Queen, King). These changes do not add any functional elements, but rather provide a fun, cosmetic makeover. However, who doesn’t love a cool, free upgrade?

Regarding collaborative efforts, Wout van Halderen, PR Manager at Playstack stated, “Following the release of our initial collaboration pack during the summer, we felt compelled to extend invitations to more partners to participate in the festivities. Collaborating with these skilled developers and studios has proven incredibly enriching, and witnessing their projects within Balatro has been a significant source of pride for both Playstack and LocalThunk.

  • Balatro (including an Apple Arcade version) only launched on mobile back in late September and made nearly $1m in revenue after just seven days live on mobile.

What can we anticipate for the future of the fast-paced, disorderly, and card-based crime game Balatro? It’s uncertain. I speculate that further collaborations are on the horizon, but the intriguing question is, will renowned mobile characters such as Red, Barbarian, or Jake from Subway Surfers make an appearance in the game?
