As a lifelong fan of the Batman franchise, I must say that Camouflaj’s latest creation, Batman: Arkham Shadow, has truly taken my breath away. Having grown up playing the original Arkham games on various consoles, I was initially skeptical about the VR aspect. However, after diving into Gotham City in virtual reality, I can confidently say that it feels like a natural progression for the series.
The latest addition to the Camouflaj-created Arkham series, Batman: Arkham Shadow, is earning a lot of praise. As a Meta Quest-exclusive VR game, it might not appeal to all Arkham fans. Yet, this game remains authentically an Arkham game with Batman’s familiar tools and gadgets. The sensation of soaring through certain areas using the grapple hook is accurately replicated, as well as the impactful feel of each punch and strike during battle.
Although some fans were taken aback by the news that the next Arkham game would be a VR title, Batman: Arkham Shadow didn’t disappoint. With top-notch voice acting and tough-but-rewarding accomplishments, Batman: Arkham Shadow provides a compelling reason to don your Batman mask, which you’ve been saving for Halloween.
If you’re still on the fence about that VR game, let me encourage you to dust off your favorite cosplay gear, perfect your eye makeup, and practice your best Kevin Conroy “I am Vengeance!” roar. Here’s why – I’ve got a stack of fantastic reviews for Batman: Arkham Shadow that are worth checking out!

Batman: Arkham Shadow received outstanding reviews with a perfect 100% critic score on OpenCritic and an 83 Metascore on Metacritic. What’s particularly noteworthy is that it also garnered a high 9.5 user score on Metacritic, suggesting that many VR players who used the glide-kick move to take down enemies have likely felt like Batman at least once while playing.
Camouflaj did a fantastic job making Batman: Arkham Shadow as immersive as possible, even with a length similar to that of Arkham Asylum. Although it is a Meta Quest exclusive, Batman: Arkham Shadow innovates on what is possible in VR and takes the Arkham series up a notch. It is a great entry title for non-VR players who love Batman and the Arkham series.
As a gamer, if Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League didn’t quite quench my thirst for superhero action that the Arkham series usually satisfies, then fear not! Batman: Arkham Shadow is stepping up to the plate and looks set to rule the roost among the top-tier Batman games in this franchise.
