Camilla Luddington Has One Wish For Her Grey’s Anatomy Pregnancy, And I’m Not Sure I Agree

As a longtime fan of Grey’s Anatomy, I find myself torn between anticipation and apprehension as the series embarks on its 2024 season. The recent revelation that Jo Wilson (played by Camilla Luddington) and Atticus Lincoln are expecting twins has sent the characters – and their audience – into a whirlwind of excitement and anxiety. While I share the characters’ initial shock, I must admit that I find myself more concerned about the potential longevity of this storyline.

⚠️ Caution! The following story may reveal minor spoilers from the October 24th episode of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, titled “You Make My Heart Explode”. If you haven’t watched it yet and don’t want any spoilers, make sure to catch up first. Episodes from Season 21 are accessible on Hulu if you have a subscription. Enjoy your streaming!

In the recently announced TV lineup for 2024, the medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy” made a comeback, and characters Jo and Link were still grappling with the startling revelation of their twin pregnancy. Although they were initially elated upon discovering the pregnancy (in a way that we can all relate to, thinking “Oh my goodness, can we manage this?”), the prospect of two babies was overwhelming, causing them significant distress. Actress Camilla Luddington, who plays Jo, shared insights about her character’s storyline in Season 21, expressing one hope she has for how things unfold, and I must admit that my feelings differ from hers on this matter.

Jo Wilson and Atticus Lincoln (played by Chris Carmack) will find themselves managing four young children following the arrival of two new babies in their family. It’s certainly great that the hospital offers full-time child care services, don’t you think? As for Camilla Luddington, it seems her character is set to carry a prosthetic baby bump as part of the ongoing storyline, and she herself has acknowledged this in an interview with Swoon.

I’d prefer not to carry a large double baby bump for three seasons on Grey’s Anatomy, but the show is unpredictable – we might never know what happens next. Occasionally, an episode will fast-forward six months. So, let’s find out together what the future holds.

In ABC’s popular medical drama, a nine-month period might stretch across an entire season or longer, and at any point, they could decide to fast-forward through time. It makes sense that Camilla Luddington wouldn’t want to stay in the show for multiple years with a pregnancy prop, but I’m not thrilled about a sudden time leap either.

The early episodes of Season 21 have set up some stories that I’d like to spend some time with. Lucas (Niko Terho) and Simone (Alexis Floyd) seem to have settled comfortably into their romance, but we haven’t gotten to see much of it yet. We also need to see if Levi (Jake Borelli) takes that job opportunity in Texas following his near-death experience, and I know I’m not the only one hoping for a steamy love triangle between Winston (Anthony Hall), Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) and Monica (Natalie Morales).

Jo’s current pregnancy duration isn’t clear, but it seems we can relax about the babies’ health this season (isn’t that expected, considering Carina DeLuca is her off-screen OB/GYN?). In an interview before Season 21, Camilla Luddington shared a chat with showrunner Meg Marinis.

As I pondered, my thoughts drifted to Grey’s baby, wondering what the future held. Would there be some calamity? I recall questioning, “Is there only one coming?” And she replied, “The idea of twins has been proposed, but I’m not sure.” So, I just went along with it, almost forgetting about it. But when we confirmed it, my reaction was, “Oh, shoot!” To be honest, I was simply thrilled that so far, they are two healthy baby twins.

Camilla Luddington hinted that “so far,” the twin babies’ storyline could be the main twist in Grey’s Anatomy. However, I’m hoping it’s just the biggest twist regarding the infants. We’ll have to wait and see, so remember to catch up with Grey’s Anatomy when it returns at 10 p.m. ET on Thursday, November 7th, only on ABC after a week-long break.
