'Working At NBC Is Safer.' Hoda Kotb Gets Candid About Finally Deciding To Leave Network TV (But I'm Excited For What She Wants To Do Next)

As a long-time fan who has watched Hoda Kotb grace our mornings for over a decade, I must say, her upcoming departure from Today feels like losing a beloved friend. Yet, as she steps into a new chapter of her life, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement and admiration for the path she is choosing to embark on.

2024 marks a significant shift in the broadcast news landscape as Hoda Kotb will spend her entire final year working at Today, according to the upcoming TV schedule. Kotb revealed last month that she plans to depart the morning show early in 2025, leaving fans emotional about the longtime host’s departure. As we prepare to bid farewell to Kotb after her impressive 15-year tenure with the program, Kotb has given fans a sneak peek into her upcoming chapter – and I can’t wait to see what lies ahead!

On last Friday’s episode of “TODAY With Hoda & Jenna”, we dedicated half an hour to embracing the importance of wellness in our lives. Kicking off the show, Hoda and Jenna touched upon Kathie Lee Gifford’s departure and how this week’s theme resonated deeply with her future endeavors. In her own words:

Have you ever felt an intense longing, a strong pull, or a persistent wish that you just can’t suppress, even when you make an effort to? Working at NBC might seem like the safer choice, but there comes a time when you sense that there’s another path you want to explore in life. I have been captivated by the wellness industry recently. As I delved deeper, I began to understand what was happening within me. I experimented with various practices, and I noticed my body becoming more tranquil. I fell ill less frequently. I felt better overall. I became a more patient parent, a more caring friend, a more loving sibling, a more understanding daughter, and I realized that all these small actions I was taking day after day were transforming me from within.

As I recently celebrated my 60th birthday back in August, I’ve been dedicating a significant amount of time and energy towards improving my personal health. This journey has been about understanding my body better and learning how to feel more fulfilled in all aspects of my life. Now that I’m stepping away from the morning program, I want to share my learnings with the world, hoping they can benefit from my experiences too.

My aim is to embrace a lifestyle centered around wellness and make it my professional focus as well. I’m eager to initiate projects in this field, and there are several ideas brewing within me that I hope will mature and take concrete shape shortly.

It’s thrilling! It seems Hoda Kotb might no longer be a part of our daily morning rituals, but it appears she intends to continue using her time to uplift people by delving into the wellness sector. At this point, we’re not sure what form this endeavor will take in her future, but it certainly seems like an inspiring direction for Kotb.

In Austin, Texas, the seasoned journalist expressed to her audience, “Let’s all strive for improvement!” For more details, tune in to the latest episode of TODAY With Hoda & Jenna available in its entirety on YouTube.

On Thursday, September 26th, Hoda Kotb revealed she would be departing from TODAY, surprising co-host Jenna Bush Hagar. One theory points to potential contract alterations, but according to Kotb herself, this move is about pursuing a fresh opportunity since reaching the age of 60. Aside from her television career, she’s a mother to two young daughters and experienced a challenging period last year when her youngest required hospitalization.

Of course, discussions about who might succeed Hoda Kotb are likely to carry on in the upcoming months. However, it’s delightful to catch a hint about what her next project will be, as I believe it’s an excellent use of her time and has the potential to positively impact many people.
