Miami Heat Unveil Statue to Honor Legendary Dwyane Wade at Kaseya Center

As a gamer who’s grown up with NBA 2K as my virtual basketball sanctuary, witnessing the unveiling of Dwyane Wade’s commemorative statue felt like leveling up to an unprecedented level. The sheer artistry and attention to detail in that masterpiece, from the “This is my house” pose to the intricate design elements, was a testament to the enduring legacy of one of basketball’s greatest icons.

During a special event at the Kaseya Center, the Miami Heat honored NBA legend Dwyane Wade by unveiling his memorial sculpture.

The sculpture, made by famous artists Oscar León and Omri Amrany (who are recognized for creating Michael Jordan’s statue in Chicago and Kobe Bryant’s in Los Angeles), represents Wade’s legendary “This is my house” pose from March 2009, a memorable moment that followed his game-winning shot against the Chicago Bulls in double overtime. To truly reflect Wade’s court presence, he played an active role in designing the statue by regularly visiting and offering suggestions during its creation process.

Next to the statue, a wall at the Kaseya Center showcases Wade’s career achievements, offering fans a special area to commemorate his lasting influence on the Heat.

Take a closer look at the ceremony below.
