As a tech enthusiast who’s been around since the dawn of the iMac G4 era, I must say, Apple’s latest reported venture into the smart home realm has me reminiscing about my old friend, the iMac G4. The idea of a modern-day reincarnation of that iconic design is nothing short of exhilarating!
According to Bloomberg’s Marc Gurman, Apple is developing a smart home display that draws inspiration from the iconic iMac design of the early 2000s.
It’s rumored that Apple will introduce a novel smart home device, sporting a design reminiscent of old iMac models. Specifically, the base is expected to resemble the iMac G4, a computer launched in 2002, which featured a spherical base and a screen that could rotate, thanks to the connected design.
As per Gurman’s report, the device is expected to be smaller than previously thought, approximately the size of two iPhones placed next to each other side by side, with its screen slightly angled.
According to Gurman’s report, the upcoming smart gadget will operate on a fresh operating system, transferring some apps from the iPad. Additionally, it’s one of two new devices Apple is developing; the other device, rumored to be a premium video conferencing tool equipped with a robotic arm for swiveling, isn’t anticipated to hit the market until 2026.
