As a seasoned gamer with over 20 years of experience under my belt, I’ve seen more than a few plot twists that left me scratching my head and reeling for answers. The latest episode of “The Penguin” has certainly added another layer to that pile, and I can’t help but feel like we’re missing something crucial in the Sofia Gigante storyline.
Caution: This information discloses plot points from the episode “Gold Summit” of the series, “The Penguin.” To watch the episode, consider upgrading to a Max subscription, and proceed with reading it at your own peril.
In the last moments of its sixth episode, The Penguin kept us on the edge of our seats with an exciting cliffhanger, and now we’re at a point in The Batman: Part II that could significantly alter the relationships among the characters. As Sofia Gigante prepares to take her vengeance on Oz for imprisoning her, I have a sense that the final scene might not unfold as gruesomely as some viewers anticipate.
We’re still grappling with (and perhaps still rejoicing over) the shocking and dramatic demise of Johnny Ziti, and it appears another major character departure may be imminent. This isn’t just because the series is nearing its end, but rather indications point towards a change in the show’s direction that differs from current predictions. Let’s review where “Gold Summit” previously concluded, and delve into why I believe it’s headed on an unexpected path compared to common expectations.
Sofia Found Oz’s Flat Where Francis And Victor Were Living
Using Eve Karlo, Oz’s girlfriend, Sofia managed to locate the apartment shared by Oswald, Francis, and Victor in Crown Point. In one hand, she held a crowbar, standing discreetly in the doorway as she observed Victor and Francis dancing without them realizing her presence. At the same time, Oswald was engaged elsewhere in town with leaders of rival gangs, oblivious to the potential shifts his life might undergo.
Sofia standing in the doorway carries an ominous atmosphere, given her past actions. While she may not have been The Hangman, her ruthless acts such as murdering Magpie and gassing the Falcone family suggest a potential threat to Francis, serving as payback for Oz. However, it remains uncertain if this is indeed her plan. Many on X speculate that it is, but we can’t be sure.
- Nah bruh, if Sofia touches mama Oswald then it’s over fr – @Brandon38263769
- What do you think is going to happen, kidnapping or murder? I’m thinking, wound the boy and take the mother. Oz then has a reason to hate Victor and become the villain he’s destined to be. –@Millennial_Fun
- I’m more concerned what will Oz do to Victor if he failed to protect Francis – @leoxzny
- The look in Sofia’s eyes as she watches Francis dancing shows lot of emotions running through her. Revenge definitely winning the race tho. #ThePenguin – @nellmatic
- Sofia finally knows where to hurt Oz but it’s through his momma– #ThePenguin –@starkcanarie
It appears that Sofia is gearing up for some action in the upcoming episode of “The Penguin”. As for what specific actions she might take, it remains unclear. Although it’s not impossible that we may witness a dramatic end to Francis, I have a feeling there could be another scenario worth exploring.
Why I Think Sofia Will Not Kill Francis
Although avenging herself on Francis by taking his life and causing Oswald immense sorrow seems like a fitting retribution for Sofia Gigante, I can’t help but believe she might hesitate at the prospect of killing his mother. Given that she understands the anguish of losing one’s mother, it appears that the emotional scars from such a loss would make her reluctant to harm someone she presumed had passed away.
I also think that in showing Sofia with a crowbar, The Penguin is dropping a major easter egg for fans of the Batman mythos. A crowbar played a vital role in one of superhero comics’ most brutal deaths when Joker used one to beat former Robin Jason Todd to death. The shocking moment was most recently mentioned in live-action in Batman v Superman, and was reversed for the recent Robin Lives! alt-history comic arc, and I think it could factor into all of this in a roundabout way.
Victor Aguilar plays a role similar to Oswald’s sidekick, Robin, and the crowbar suggests that Sofia might kill him while leaving Francis untouched. Although Sofia may not be fully aware of Victor’s connection with Oz, she understands that he holds significance for her former driver. It’s unfortunate to predict such an outcome because I admire Rhenzy Feliz’s portrayal of Victor as much as TopMob adores Rich Knight. However, I believe his death could deliver the most powerful impact this series has seen so far. I can only hope that Sofia will show mercy and neither Victor nor Francis will come to harm, but it seems unlikely.
On Sundays at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time, you can catch “The Penguin” on HBO. I bet everyone watching is eagerly anticipating how this upcoming episode unfolds, so let’s hope the week goes quickly so we can find out what Sofia will do next!
