Now Hiring: Netflix Shakes Up Exec Ranks In Search of Chief Global Affairs Officer

As a seasoned gamer with a knack for following industry news and changes, I must say the recent announcements from Netflix about Rachel Whetstone and Dean Garfield leaving their roles have certainly piqued my interest. Their combined experience in communications, policy, and tech giants like Meta, Uber, Google, and even UK politics makes them formidable figures in their respective fields.

Netflix is saying goodbye to two key executives, Rachel Whetstone, the Chief Communications Officer, and Dean Garfield, the Global Public Policy Vice President, who have decided to move on from the company.

The changes are being made as co-CEO Ted Sarandos aims to consolidate the roles into a freshly created position titled ‘Chief Global Affairs Officer‘. This individual will be responsible for both policy matters and corporate communications. Garfield, who lacks communication experience, and Whetstone, who reportedly declined the role, are leaving due to these changes.

A candidate for the new role has not yet been identified.

Rachel and Dean have been with us for around six years, serving not only as leaders but also as true collaborators. Their advice, commitment, and enthusiasm have significantly impacted our company, playing a crucial role in our achievements. Sarandos expresses his heartfelt gratitude to them personally, wishing them nothing but the best in their future endeavors,” the statement read.

In the year 2019, Garfield became a part of our team. Prior to this, he had served as the chief executive officer for the Information Technology Industry Council. His professional journey also includes roles at the Motion Picture Association and the Recording Industry Association of America.
