As a gamer with a penchant for 80s and 90s action classics, I can wholeheartedly say that Myles Garrett’s Terminator 2 costume is nothing short of a masterpiece. Growing up, I remember watching Schwarzenegger’s T-800 transform from a relentless killer to a heroic protector in Judgment Day, and Garrett has managed to capture that essence perfectly.
Despite becoming widely recognized due to his portrayal of Conan the Barbarian, Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s most enduring role might be his multiple appearances as the T-800 in the Terminator films. The sci-fi series has had its ups and downs, but the original two movies continue to shine, with Terminator 2: Judgement Day being hailed as one of the best films from the 90s. Notably, when an NFL player donned a distinctive Halloween costume based on that character, Schwarzenegger responded with much enthusiasm.
Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett dramatically transformed himself into the character T-800 from Terminator 2: Judgment Day, a model who had been reprogrammed to assist John and Sarah Connor rather than being an antagonist like his original counterpart from The Terminator. Instead of simply mimicking Arnold Schwarzenegger’s leather jacket and pants attire from the 1991 film, Garrett also wore a mask to emulate the cyborg, with some of its robotic features visible. You can see how he looked in this transformation, along with Schwarzenegger’s reaction, below:

Man, I tell you, nothing beats going all in! And if you’re curious about the badass mask Garrett sported, let me fill you in. That eye-catching piece was crafted by none other than Mike Castro from Madness FX, specifically for the football prodigy to flaunt at the Browns’ game against the Baltimore Ravens. Adam Schefter from ESPN gave us a sneak peek of this T-800 mask on Twitter, so take a moment to appreciate the incredible detail that went into creating it!
Why Terminator 2: Judgment Day’s Opening Scene Is My Favorite Movie Introduction Of All Time
James Cameron discusses the reason behind the trailers for Terminator 2 giving away that Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character would be a hero in the sequel.
In his triumphant moments, Myles Garrett can count this as a double victory for October 27th: first, he successfully crafted an impressive Terminator costume that even earned Arnold Schwarzenegger’s approval; second, his team, the Browns, defeated the Ravens with a score of 29-24. Although it would have been amusing to see Garrett continue wearing the mask during the game, I was glad he did not risk damaging it or experiencing visual impairment from the mask itself.
Currently, the Terminator franchise finds itself at a standstill following the disappointing commercial performance of Terminator: Dark Fate in 2019. In contrast, the anime series Terminator Zero received favorable reviews upon its release on Netflix subscribers in August. However, James Cameron, one of the co-creators and executive producers of Dark Fate, admitted that he may have sabotaged the film by targeting an older audience, leaving little appeal for a new generation. Additionally, actress Linda Hamilton has stated she has no plans to reprise her role as Sarah Connor.
Although the future of the cinematic series for the Terminator franchise is still unclear, you can enjoy streaming Terminator 2: Judgement Day with your Paramount+ subscription once you’ve finished appreciating Myles Garrett’s costume.
