Keira Knightley Plays a Badass Action Hero in ‘Black Doves’ Trailer

As a gamer with a penchant for action-packed narratives and a soft spot for British productions, I must say the trailer for Black Doves has piqued my interest! The thought of Keira Knightley wielding guns and throwing punches as a badass spy is tantalizing. It’s refreshing to see her stepping away from period dramas and diving headfirst into the world of espionage and intrigue.

In the recently released trailer for the Netflix thriller “Black Doves,” Keira Knightley displays her impressive combat abilities, taking on the role of an action hero. The series is set to debut on December 5th.

Instead of the refined period pieces like ‘Atonement’ and ‘Pride and Prejudice’, which launched her film career, the spy series ‘Black Doves’ presents a new side to Knightley. Here, she portrays Helen Webb, a tough British agent who isn’t shy about wielding guns or throwing punches. However, when her secret lover is murdered, her cover is put at risk. In pursuit of revenge, she navigates through intensifying gunfights as the situation escalates.

At some point during the trailer, she threatens, ‘If you interfere, I’ll take care of it myself.’ Webb, secretly sharing her politician husband’s information with an enigmatic organization called the Black Doves, finds herself in a dangerous predicament. Her trusted advisor (Sarah Lancashire) recruits an old acquaintance (Ben Whishaw) to uncover who murdered her paramour. This investigation unravels a complex web of connections between London’s shady underworld and a potentially explosive international crisis.

The Netflix thriller, titled “Black Doves,” is based in London during Christmas, and it follows the characters Webb and Young as they grapple with moral decisions from their past that resurface. This gripping series was developed, written, and serves as executive producer by Joe Barton, who is also known for creating “Giri/Haji” and “The Lazarus Project.

In the initial lineup for the first season are actors Luther Ford, Tracey Ullman, Kathryn Hunter, and Omari Douglas. The shows “The Sister” and “Noisy Bear” are overseen by executive producers Jane Featherstone, Chris Fry, Knightley, and Harry Munday serves as producer.

The series is overseen by Alex Gabassi, known for “The Crown”, and Lisa Gunning, recognized for “The Power”. The fresh trailer incorporates new tunes from British vocalist Raye, who has reinterpreted Nancy Sinatra’s “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)” as the main theme for the initial season.

Netflix, meanwhile, has already ordered a second season of the spy thriller.
