The Invisible Raptor Trailer Teases Horror Comedy With Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Score

As a cinephile with a soft spot for B-movies that push the boundaries of absurdity and a deep affection for dinosaurs, I must say I am thoroughly intrigued by the upcoming release of “The Invisible Raptor”. The trailer alone has me hooked, with its clever blend of horror, comedy, and the timeless allure of a killer, invisible dinosaur.

In the absence of funding to include a fearsome beast in your horror flick, an ingenious solution is to make it unseen. Enter “The Invisible Raptor,” a fresh blend of humor and terror directed by Mike Hermosa, featuring Sean Astin, Mike Capes, David Shackelford, Caitlin McHugh Stamos, Sandy Martin, Bobby Gilchrist, among others. The trailer for “The Invisible Raptor” has just dropped, and it’s as wacky as its title suggests.

Just as a great horror film can be easily grasped by its title alone, the concept of “The Invisible Raptor” is no exception. When a clandestine research facility conducts experiments reminiscent of those seen in “Jurassic Park” and “The Invisible Man,” they inadvertently birth an invisible, lethal raptor. Given the popularity of the Jurassic series, raptors have become a staple creature for dinosaur-themed monster films. Even if they weren’t already intimidating in Spielberg’s masterpiece, you won’t even spot them coming in “The Invisible Raptor.

The official synopsis reads:

Following an ill-fated classified study, a super-smart, invisible velociraptor manages to break free from the research facility and starts causing chaos in the nearby community. As the true nature of the menace is revealed, it becomes evident that a disgraced paleontologist, together with his former lover (an overzealous amusement park guard), an eccentric security personnel, and a local chicken farmer who’s also famous, are the town’s last line of defense against the raptor’s destructive spree.

As a movie enthusiast, I can’t help but feel the hype for “The Invisible Raptor” after just one tantalizing sneak peek! This film seems destined to become a future favorite among cult classics, with dialogue so outrageous it’s already trending online, like the infamous line, “Hang on to your seat!

The Invisible Raptor Has a Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Score

Wacky, monster-based horror comedies aren’t for everyone. The niche sub-genre has a devout cult following, but critics tend to overlook these B-movies, which aren’t given wide releases. However, the critics are in agreement about The Invisible Raptor as early reviews have granted the movie the rare perfect Rotten Tomatoes score. To be fair, it has only seven reviews so far, but with a 100% rating, The Invisible Raptor is technically higher rated than Citizen Kane (99%) according to the review aggregate site.

Joel Harley from Starbust might have expressed it succinctly with, “It’s an intelligent take on a dumb film, yet manages to remain incredibly dumb itself.” Ben Robins of Goonies-esque HeyUGuys concurs that The Invisible Raptor surpasses its ludicrous namesake and is surprisingly well-crafted for a B-movie monster flick. They penned this:

This film, an unseen monster movie, is a delightfully absurd hit that consistently charms audiences. It rises above mere satire due to its meticulous direction, witty script, and endearing ensemble of characters.

Unfortunately, “The Invisible Raptor” won’t make it for a spooky Halloween watch. But fear not! You can surprise your loved ones with an unforgettable Christmas movie marathon (crazier than “Jingle All the Way”) as “The Invisible Raptor” hits theaters and digital platforms in December instead.

The Invisible Raptor
hits select theaters and digital on Dec. 6.
