I've Watched Every Episode Of Hell's Kitchen, And Gordon Ramsay Just Made Me Cry For The First Time

As a long-time gamer who’s spent countless hours immersed in virtual worlds, I must admit that my latest obsession is not a game but a reality cooking show – Hell’s Kitchen. Now, before you get your spatulas all twisted, let me explain.

So, I love Gordon Ramsay, but my appreciation for him developed in recent years.

Throughout the pandemic period, I predominantly filled my days with job applications and marathon-watching food series that left me craving more. This endless viewing eventually led me to discover Gordon Ramsay’s cooking shows, with many becoming personal favorites—like his newest creation, Next Level Chef, or the timeless classic, MasterChef. However, there is one show that resonated deeply with me, and it was none other than Hell’s Kitchen.

The Americanized version exploded and has been ongoing for twenty-four seasons now. During those binging times, I watched every season of Hell’s Kitchen so far and have stayed up to date with it each year since then. It’s made me laugh, feel stressed, and smile so often that it’s hard to count.

For the very first time, watching Hell’s Kitchen has left me teary-eyed, particularly due to the emotional impact of Gordon Ramsay’s actions, which I feel compelled to discuss.

Let Me Start By Saying That I’ve Always Loved Hell’s Kitchen

For quite some time now, Hell’s Kitchen has stood out as my preferred Gordon Ramsay series, and let me tell you, there are plenty of reasons why I feel this way.

The reason I enjoy this show isn’t merely due to its strong competitors. Instead, it’s the remarkable way it has developed over time that truly appeals to me. Many competition or reality shows seem to follow a repetitive pattern, or they develop in directions that are off-putting. However, this particular show manages to evolve in a refreshing and engaging manner.

For example, Love Is Blind has evolved in some good ways, but Love Is Blind Season 7 has been messy and less enjoyable. The same thing applies to competition shows like The Voice or American Idol; they’ve changed judges and specific aspects of the show over the years, but maybe not always for the better.

For quite a while now, Hell’s Kitchen has been mixing things up, and I find that refreshing. In some seasons, the focus is on executive chefs, in others on young aspirants, and there are also those dedicated to All-Stars. The variety keeps it interesting, and I appreciate the change.

The Show Itself Makes Me Stressed – In An Entertaining Way

Beyond just developing the series, “Hell’s Kitchen” truly elicits stress in me – yet in an enjoyable, engaging manner that makes it top-notch television.

Consider one of Hulu’s top-tier shows, “The Bear.” It’s the most tension-filled original series on TV, yet it keeps you hooked due to its blend of stress and entertainment. Just like “Hell’s Kitchen,” it has a magnetic pull – will Ramsay shout at the contestants? Might he hurl a fish against the wall? Or will everything miraculously go smoothly?

That kind of suspense and stressfulness entertains me so much, and I feel giddy half the time.

But Gordon Ramsay Had A Very Emotional Moment In The Latest Season – And It Got Me Crying For The First Time

The first time ever… rather than causing me to feel anxious, amused, or anything like that, Gordon Ramsay brought tears to my eyes on the show “Hell’s Kitchen” – in a heartwarming manner.

Picture this: We’re in the fifth episode of Season 23, and one of our competitors, Egypt, a high-ranking banquet chef, is on the brink of dropping out of the competition. There are two main factors at play – firstly, his team, the Blue Team, seems to be working against him, and secondly, he’s battling some intense homesickness, a feeling that many can empathize with.

As a gamer, I’ve been away from my loved ones for extended periods, and boy, do I miss them, especially my little girl. It’s something anyone can relate to. When I shared this with Ramsay, I thought he might just let me go, given we’ve had quite a few contestants drop out this season. But instead, he took me aside.

In a private conversation away from the other contestants, I (Egypt) found myself opening up to Ramsay about some personal struggles. He shared that he too had faced similar challenges, as at the time of filming, his wife had just given birth to their newborn, and he couldn’t be there with her. It was a difficult situation for him, but he persevered. What struck me was when he told me that he’s kept me around despite the team ganging up on me. He believes in my abilities and sees something in me that his team doesn’t.

In their embrace, Ramsay encourages him to regain his self-assurance and return to the kitchen, a moment which resonated deeply with me. Perhaps it’s because, despite witnessing the compassionate side of Ramsay in other shows, he appears quite different in this particular series.

In this program, there’s no denying its gravity; it’s always carried a heavy weight. The competition revolves around who will head Ramsay’s upcoming restaurant, which is a significant position to hold. However, witnessing his compassionate side, truly empathizing with one of the lead chefs – it struck an emotional chord in me, causing tears to flow freely. It serves as a reminder that even the most accomplished and honored individuals face challenges as fundamental as homesickness. This moment deepens our connection to Ramsay, which I value greatly.

I Hope That We Can See This Side Of Him More In Hell’s Kitchen

It’s uncommon for our show to display this softer side of Ramsay, and usually it doesn’t veer in that direction. Yet, I can’t help but hope that we see more of it. The series will return as part of the 2024 TV lineup, and I believe that audiences will find it significant to witness Ramsay interacting more closely with his contestants.

It’s clear that Gordon Ramsay isn’t just the stern chef we often see; after all, no one is like that all the time. Yet, it’s heartening to witness this shift in his demeanor. Here’s hoping we get to see a lot more of this change in the future.

At the moment, I’m contentedly spending time watching a few cooking channels on YouTube, as I anticipate the release of the next episode. Trying hard not to get tempted to cook Beef Wellington once more.
