I Finally Watched Henry Cavill’s New Movie Streaming, And It’s The Third Time We’ve Been Shown The Former 007 Hopeful Deserves A Spy Franchise Of His Own

As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that Henry Cavill has proven time and again his prowess in the realm of espionage, and “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare” is just another testament to this fact. This man is not only a master of disguise but also a connoisseur of facial hair, as evidenced by his iconic mustache in this movie that could give even the mighty Justice League a run for their money.

Henry Cavill has been quite forthcoming about his past auditions for James Bond throughout the years, and he continues to maintain a tactful stance on potentially playing 007 as Bond 26 approaches. Despite suggestions that he might be too old for the role now, he clearly hasn’t lost his edge when it comes to action or portraying spies. I don’t think he should dismiss the idea so easily, given the evidence from the recent film The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.

Just watched “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare” streaming – it’s a blast! The opening scene is top-notch, the action keeps you on your toes, and the plot twists are quite unique. I wouldn’t say it’s Guy Ritchie’s best work, but Henry Cavill devours every scene like he’s sinking his teeth into a juicy steak. Plus, that massive Ministry mustache of his just adds to the charm! Makes me hopeful for more Gus March-Phillips appearances in the future – I could watch him again and again!

This Is The Third Time Henry Cavill Has Played A Spy Lately, And My Favorite To Date

Henry Cavill excels in portraying a spy character. Alongside Armie Hammer, he delivered an impressive performance in Guy Ritchie’s underestimated film, “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” However, unfortunately for the movie, it didn’t fare well at the box office. Notably, when Ritchie learned that audiences adored “U.N.C.L.E,” he was genuinely surprised by the widespread acclaim of Cavill’s performance. He was delighted and openly expressed his fondness for the film. However, it seems unlikely that a sequel will be made now.

Previously, Cavill starred in Matthew Vaughn’s film Argylle, portraying a character resembling a spy, though it occasionally veers into silliness. Despite its occasional absurdity, it features an underappreciated twist that makes for an entertaining experience. However, given the movie’s context, it’s not the platform to kickstart Cavill’s aspirations for a spy franchise.

Shortly following the premiere of Argylle, DC’s ex-Superman, Henry Cavill, appeared in another Guy Ritchie film titled The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. This is a WWII-era spy movie with an appealing ensemble cast. Cavill sported an even more impressive mustache than the one that sparked a controversy over Justice League, which he wore in Mission: Impossible – Fallout. Furthermore, he shares the screen with Alan Ritchson from Reacher, who excels in action scenes. With such potential, it seems like a smart decision to make another movie based on this.

Will Henry Cavill Get The Spy Franchise He Deserves?

The situations remind me slightly of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The Man From U.N.C.L.E. didn’t become a successful franchise because of its box office performance and issues with Armie Hammer, making it “too hot.” Argylle received decent reviews but its third act was too complex for some viewers, making it “too cold.” However, Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare appeals to me as a movie. The main flaw is its high budget; if it gains popularity, they could find the perfect balance in a future edition.

It’s clear that the movie “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare” hasn’t performed as well as expected, earning just $26 million worldwide against an estimated budget of $60 million. While it might have done well on streaming platforms, the poor box office performance means it didn’t make enough to cover its costs. However, I must say that the period special forces team-up film was excellent and with some adjustments and fresh scripts, the studio could potentially explore the concept further.

Personally, I can’t think of a truly bad movie Guy Ritchie has ever made. But since he consistently hits in the 3.5/5 realm and doesn’t spend hundreds of millions to make his movies, they often quietly come and go with people not talking about them all that much in the moment. I think it’s a damn shame, because Cavill + Eiza Gonzalez+ Alan Ritchson is a winning combo, and Alex Pettyfer and Henry Golding were smart adds to boot. I’d like to see the gang get another fun adventure to go on, but most importantly, I’d like to see Henry Cavill get that spy franchise he so obviously deserves.
