PACE Unveils Its First Flagship Store in São Paulo

As a dedicated streetwear enthusiast with a deep appreciation for cultural fusion, I can confidently say that PACE’s new flagship store in São Paulo is a triumphant testament to the power of blending tradition and innovation. Having traveled extensively across Brazil and Japan, I’ve witnessed firsthand the unique charm of both cultures, and it’s heartening to see them seamlessly intertwined within this space.

Known as PACE, a well-recognized fusion of Brazilian and Japanese street fashion, recently unveiled its inaugural flagship store in São Paulo. This move signifies a substantial growth step for PACE, offering a unique, engaging space to interact directly with their vast community that has been cultivated over seven years. The design of the flagship store aims to harmonize cultural roots with modern technology, reflecting PACE’s aim to establish a lasting, welcoming atmosphere for streetwear enthusiasts everywhere.

The primary store was designed by Coletivo de Arquitetos under the guidance of Guile Amadeu, working alongside Felipe Matayoshi, founder of PACE. This partnership produced a unique blend of Japanese and Brazilian aesthetics, creating a welcoming ambiance that encourages visitors to connect with the brand on a personal level. The premises also include Café PACE, an area specifically designed for customers to socialize in a cozy setting, complete with seasonal textile seating by Paulo Mendes da Rocha.

The purpose of PACE’s store transcends just selling merchandise; it strives to establish a platform for artistic exploration. By incorporating an engaging LED screen that welcomes invited artists to display their creations, PACE encourages conversations between art, urban fashion, and technology. As Matayoshi puts it, “We dared to develop a spacious and advanced venue not only embodying the spirit of PACE but also acting as a social center for our community.

The store further expresses Matayoshi’s love for music by featuring old-school 1960s Italian audio systems and intends to host future musical events ranging from listening parties to record gatherings. Embracing creative self-expression is a core aspect of PACE’s philosophy, as it strives to foster connections with its community through shared, immersive experiences that reflect both local and global influences.

PACE’s items draw inspiration from Matayoshi’s cultural background, combining clothing, trinkets, and everyday goods that blend practicality with a forward-thinking aesthetic, reflecting both Okinawan and Brazilian influences.
