'Nobody Wants This' Creator Worked On The OC Before The Netflix Gig (Too Bad Adam Brody Completely Forgot)

As a long-time fan who fondly remembers Seth Cohen from The O.C., it’s been a delight to witness Adam Brody’s transformation into a hot Rabbi in Nobody Wants This. However, what truly took me by surprise was discovering that the creator of the show, Erin Foster, was actually a part of the same universe as Seth Cohen!

It’s well-known that “Nobody Wants This” was one of the most successful releases in the 2024 Netflix Movie and TV Schedule. What might astonish some longtime Adam Brody fans dating back to the early 2000s is that the creator of the rom-com series, Erin Foster, was actually a part of Seth Cohen’s universe from “The O.C”. Interestingly enough, Brody needed to be informed about the character Foster portrayed in the series.

Previously starring in “Fleishman is in Trouble,” the actor recently appeared as a guest on Erin and Sara Foster’s authentic podcast, aptly named The World’s First Podcast. This podcast served as the inspiration for the fictional podcast within the current Netflix hit series. During their conversation, they talked about their show, which features Kristen Bell and has already been renewed for Season 2. They also chatted about life outside of the spotlight and reminisced about how Erin Foster and Brody shared a past on “The O.C.

In response to being questioned about his recollection of the older sister from the Fox teen show, he admitted that he couldn’t recall, and in fact, he believed it was Erin Foster, the younger one, who was part of the West Coast cast. Here’s what he had to say:

Actually, I had thought it was Sara all along… But during the media interviews for this, someone let me know that it wasn’t her after all.

Following the admission, everyone had a hearty chuckle and pondered over which sister experienced the greater slight, individually. The interaction was light-hearted, and it was disclosed that Erin appeared altered during the show’s filming. Brody clarified that he didn’t remember the Foster sister being present because they never shared a scene on set.

I don’t remember the scene. I don’t remember what anyone looked like…We never worked together.

In response to your inquiry, The creator of the show “Nobody Wants This” stated that there was no shared screen time between the two characters about two decades ago. Furthermore, her storyline was minor and she played a role in Marissa Cooper’s plot towards the end of the third season.

In our professional journey, we’ve never collaborated before, and let me assure you, my performance in the show was less than stellar. My parts were quite limited, and unfortunately, none of them involved you. Instead, they mostly featured Mischa [Barton] and Volchok, the actor who portrayed my character’s boyfriend.

It was inevitable that they would meet again, and I’m pleased that Foster recognized Brody as an ideal choice for Noah. Many people, including Rachel Bilson from “The O.C.”, have been thoroughly impressed and shower him with praise for his portrayal of the charismatic Rabbi.

Besides finding the 44-year-old’s portrayal endearing, he’s also enjoyed the humor of memes related to the series. It all feels very “Brody” and adds to the positive energy generated by the show’s success, despite some potential mistakes regarding which sister tormented Marissa Cooper. The key takeaway is that they’ve reunited for another successful project, boosting their collective resumes.

To enjoy watching the movie “Nobody Wants This“, you can stream it using a Netflix account. Alternatively, if you’d like to revisit California and catch up with Brody and Foster, you can stream “The O.C.” on HBO Max.
