As a gamer with countless hours spent navigating dark, eerie worlds and unraveling supernatural mysteries, I can confidently say that the trailer for Steven Soderbergh’s “Presence” sent chills down my spine. The unique perspective of the entity haunting the family adds an intriguing twist to a genre I thought I knew well. The cast is stellar, and I’m particularly excited to see Lucy Liu and Julia Fox in action.
Neon has debuted the first trailer for Steven Soderbergh‘s upcoming horror film, Presence.
The upcoming film is presented through the viewpoint of the ghostly presence that has been disturbing a suburban family in their recently-moved-into house. The fresh trailer undoubtedly gives off an unsettling vibe, as viewers are compelled to witness the family during their most exposed moments. It’s clear that they sense the haunting activity happening around them.
In this version of events, Lucy Liu, Chris Sullivan, Callina Liang, Eddy Maday, and Julia Fox are the main actors in the project. Julie M. Anderson and Ken Meyers take on the roles of producers. Additionally, David Koepp once again collaborates with the director as a writer, following their previous work on Kimi.
At the Sundance Film Festival 2024, the movie was warmly received with numerous positive reviews. Later on, it was purchased by Neon for a whopping $5 million US dollars.
Previously, Soderbergh shared with Variety that he was seeking an alternative narrative approach. He explained, “The entire story unfolds through the fragments seen by this mysterious entity. The supernatural aspect serves as a deceptive vehicle, allowing us to witness a family on the brink of disintegration.
Watch the trailer above. Presence hits theaters January 24, 2025.
