Best New Tracks: MF DOOM, Freddie Gibbs, idk and More

As a lifelong music aficionado who’s seen more concerts than I can count on one hand, this week has been nothing short of a sonic feast! From MF DOOM to Freddie Gibbs and idk, it’s like the gods of hip-hop are showering us with gifts.

Wrapping up another thrilling gaming week, I’ve dived into the latest beats and tunes to bring you my top picks for this week’s edition of My Favorite Fresh Beats.

This week’s featured artists include MF DOOM, Freddie Gibbs, and an artist whose identity I’m unsure of, who all debuted the music video for “Vomitspit” and albums titled “You Only Die 1nce” and “BRAVADO INTiMO“. Additionally, we have contributions from Westside Gunn, Lola Young featuring Lil Yachty, midwxst, Yeat along with Quavo, Balming Tiger, and Roy Woods.

MF DOOM – “Vomitspit”

A music video for the song “Vomitspit” has been unveiled in commemoration of DOOMSDAY 2024, marking the anniversary of MF DOOM’s passing. The creative direction, animation, and music production are courtesy of Saber. The animated depiction of the deceased Supervillain (including his personas such as King Geedorah) is seen concocting something extraordinary. Furthermore, it acknowledges DOOM’s legacy through subtle tributes to Zev Love X, his initial stage name from KMD, and Madlib’s Quasimoto side project.

idk –  BRAVADO INTiMO

As a gamer, I’m hyped about dropping my fresh new album titled “BRAVADO INTiMO“. Collaborating with some heavy hitters like Gunna, Joey Bada$$, The ARTI$T, and Conway The Machine on this one. In the spirit of keeping things straightforward, I aimed to simplify the whole process for this project. Instead of the usual rap flow, I decided to sing over beats that MF DOOM would typically spit on, only dropping rhymes when it felt most organic with “B.i.“. Can’t wait for you all to check it out!

Westside Gunn – Still Praying

It’s no surprise that Westside Gunn has managed to put out two projects within a day’s time. Following his traditional Halloween release, this year titled “11“, the mainstay of Griselda has additionally dropped the follow-up to “And Then You Pray For Me“, entitled “Still Praying“. This new full-length album boasts collaborations with Benny The Butcher, Conway The Machine, Boldy James, Stove God Cooks, Rome Streetz and production from the likes of Conductor Williams and Daringer. Westside Gunn himself notes, “Some paintings are masterpieces, and this just happens to be one.” He continues, “I wanted to demonstrate not only am I a great curator; but I can also spit with the best of them.
