Biver's "Echoes of This Moment" Automatique Captures the Essence of Time and Memory

As a seasoned collector of timepieces and an enthusiast of art, I must say that Biver’s “Echoes of This Moment” Automatique is a true masterpiece that seamlessly combines both worlds. The collaboration with Swiss artist Guillaume Ehinger has resulted in a dial that captivates the eye with its intricate layers and ripple effect, offering a visual journey from afar to up close.

After Ressence and Toledano & Chan showcased their TimeForArt-exclusive timepieces, Biver has also presented a remarkable piece specifically for the upcoming auction. Named “Echoes of This Moment,” this watch is built on the foundation of Biver’s Automatic model.

As a gamer, I’m utterly captivated by the star of this show – its 18k white gold dial. This beauty is the result of a creative partnership with Swiss artist, Guillaume Ehinger, and it boasts a mesmerizing, multi-layered enamel work. The dial, handcrafted to perfection, exhibits an intriguing rippling effect that dances between captivating shades of red, pink, and gray. As Ehinger puts it, “I ponder scale in my creations.” He emphasizes that while a powerful image can be appreciated from afar, as you draw nearer, it unfolds more secrets and reveals intricate details.

In a 39mm casing, this particular model deviates from the usual precious metal options like platinum or rose gold, being crafted instead from stainless steel. Typically, the Automatique is made using these precious metals.

From my perspective, flipping it over reveals an equally captivating sight – an open caseback offering a transparent glimpse into the intricate workings of the JCB-003 caliber. Although the general aesthetic is consistent with typical Automatique models, the 22k gold micro-rotor now bears the engraving “Echoes of this Moment,” alongside Ehinger’s signature.

The “Echoes of This Moment” Automatic watch by Biver is set for auction in December during The Phillips New York Watch Auction: XI, which includes a special section called TimeForArt. For further information, please check out the official TimeForArt website.
