As a cinephile who has spent countless hours binge-watching shows from around the globe, I must say this upcoming week is shaping up to be a treat for us television enthusiasts! From the return of fan favorites like “Cobra Kai” and “Arcane” to intriguing documentaries like “Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey”, there’s something for everyone.
Some exciting highlights coming to Netflix in November include:
Hey there fellow gamers! Marking my calendar for November 7th as Netflix brings back the thrilling action-mystery series Outer Banks. The first part of season four left us hanging, and I can’t wait to see how things unfold for the Pogues. Amongst all the cliffhangers, it seems Rudy Pankow’s character, JJ, is in for a shock when he discovers that his father, Luke, isn’t his biological dad. The cast has hinted at “craziness,” so I’m bracing myself for some mind-blowing surprises on Kildare Island!
In November, Netflix is set to unveil a film that could be a strong contender for an Oscar – Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Pérez. This French production, a captivating blend of music and crime drama, features Zoe Saldaña, Karla Sofía Gascón, and Selena Gomez in the lead roles. The film initially premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Jury Prize and its female ensemble also took home the best actress award. Emilia Pérez is a story about a cartel leader (Gascón), who seeks help from a lawyer (Saldaña) to orchestrate her own death, allowing her to live authentically thereafter.
Beginning on November 15th, fresh installments of the martial arts comedy-drama “Cobra Kai” will be available on Netflix. This marks the debut of the last three sections of season six, which is the final season. In part two of season six, the Miyagi-Do group embarks on a journey to Barcelona for the toughest fight they’ve ever faced at the Sekai Taikai tournament. Meanwhile, sensei Johnny Lawrence is busy inspiring his karate students to give their best and strive towards becoming world champions.
On November 22nd, Netflix will debut the British historical drama titled “Joy.” This movie chronicles the origins of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and its evolution into a significant medical breakthrough in the United Kingdom during the 1960s and 1970s. The subject of IVF is particularly relevant today, given the controversies surrounding its use by certain conservative politicians in the U.S. The film boasts an impressive cast led by Bill Nighy, with Thomasin McKenzie and James Norton among others. Ben Taylor directs this production from a screenplay penned by Jack Thorne, who is also known for writing “His Dark Materials.
Additionally premiering on November 22nd is the big-screen adaptation of August Wilson’s 1987 Pulitzer Prize-winning play, “The Piano Lesson.” This film seems to be another strong contender for awards, as suggested by its synopsis: Set in Pittsburgh during the aftermath of the Great Depression in 1936, “The Piano Lesson” explores the lives of the Charles family residing at Doaker Charles’ household and a family heirloom – an old piano that holds carvings made by their enslaved ancestor, chronicling the family history. The talented Danielle Deadwyler takes the lead role, with Samuel L. Jackson and John David Washington also starring, having previously appeared in the Broadway revival of this play. The cast also includes Corey Hawkins, Michael Potts, and Ray Fisher. Malcolm Washington, Denzel Washington’s son, is making his feature film debut with “The Piano Lesson,” and he has co-written the screenplay alongside Virgil Williams.
Colman Domingo, currently much sought-after, will feature in the Netflix series titled “The Madness“, set to premiere on November 28th. In this suspenseful conspiracy thriller, the Academy Award nominee takes on the role of a media commentator who suspects he’s being falsely accused of a murder he unwittingly discovered. This eight-episode drama was crafted by Stephen Belber and also stars Marsha Stephanie Blake, Gabrielle Graham, and John Ortiz.
Here are some newly added movies on Netflix in November: Free State of Jones, Goosebumps, Just Go With It, Maid in Manhattan, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, Oblivion, Pompeii, The Scorpion King, Sixteen Candles, Superbad, The Whale, Whiplash, The Lost City, Focus, and the Fast and Furious franchise including The Fast and the Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Fast & Furious, Fast Five, and Fast & Furious 6.
