As a die-hard fan of both Jason Bateman and David Harbour, I couldn’t be more thrilled about their upcoming collaboration in the dark comedy series, “DTF St. Louis”. Having followed their careers closely, it’s always fascinating to see them stepping out of their comfort zones and into new territories.
Jason Bateman and David Harbour are getting involved in a love triangle.
Actors known for their roles in “Ozark” and “Stranger Things” will lead the HBO limited series titled “DTF St. Louis“. This seven-episode project is created and run by Steven Conrad, who has worked on shows like “Wonder” and Amazon’s “Patriot“. Additionally, they will serve as executive producers alongside Bateman and Harbour.
Francesca Orsi, HBO’s executive vice president of programming for drama series and films, expresses great enthusiasm about collaborating with renowned storyteller Steve Conrad. She highlights his unique perspective that consistently shines through in all his work. With David Harbour and Jason Bateman leading the series, she is confident about the path ahead and eagerly anticipates sharing this emotionally engaging production with everyone when it’s ready.
HBO portrays the series “DTF St. Louis” as a witty blend of drama and humor, focusing on a love triangle among three individuals grappling with midlife ennui, culminating in one character’s untimely demise.
The series has been under production for over two years now. Initially named “My Dentist’s Murder Trial,” it was inspired by a 2017 article written by James Lasdun for The New Yorker. At first, Jason Harbour and Pedro Pascal were set to star in the production. However, Pascal (who currently plays a role in HBO’s “The Last of Us”) has since left the project. Interestingly, the show has now moved away from being based on the magazine story and is developing into an original narrative instead. Despite this shift, Lasdun continues to serve as an executive producer for the series.
Conrad is collaborating on the production of the series alongside Bateman, Michael Costigan from Aggregate Films, as well as Harbour; Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch from Escape Artists, along with Molly Allen, Bruce Terris, Kristina Wenson from Bravo Axolotl, Lasdun, and MGM Television.
Upcoming projects for Bateman include Netflix’s movie Carry-On, slated for release on December 13, where he will share screen time with Jude Law in a drama series titled Black Rabbit for the streamer in 2025. On the other hand, Harbour is set to appear in Marvel’s Thunderbolts and the final season of Stranger Things, both expected to premiere next year.
Bateman is represented by Creative Artists Agency (CAA), Lighthouse Management + Media, Hansen Jasobsen, and Shelter PR. Similarly, Costigan and Aggregate Films are associated with both CAA and Lighthouse Management + Media.
