As a die-hard basketball fan who grew up cheering for the University of Kentucky Wildcats, I can’t help but feel a surge of nostalgia upon seeing Devin Booker’s latest Nike Book 1 PE. The way these shoes pay tribute to my beloved team’s iconic blue and white color scheme and their historic 1996 National Championship season is truly something special.
Recently, Devin Booker has been focused on his Personalized Experience (PE) with Nike, unveiling numerous unique designs for the Book 1 shoe. In this latest release, Booker pays tribute to his alma mater, the University of Kentucky Wildcats Basketball team. As they prepare for their upcoming season starting on November 4th, the Wildcats have been given a special edition of Book 1 shoes, designed in the iconic blue and white colors of the university and inspired by their 1996 National Championship season.
After Booker racked up a series of college PE shoes during the season, the Kentucky PE followed, first showcasing the Michigan State shoe design and subsequently the USC Trojans one. The design of the sneaker features the Book 1 model in the team’s blue and white color scheme, with the number “34-2” emblazoned on the tongue as a tribute to Booker’s time at Kentucky. Notably, this design subtly references Kentucky’s National Championship victory in 1996, while also symbolizing Booker’s birth year. The Wildcats logos are placed on the insoles and the lateral side of the heel counter.
