The Wizards Beyond Waverly Place Cast Reveal Which Creatures From The Original Show They Want Back, And I’m Loving Their Ideas

As someone who grew up with the original “Wizards of Waverly Place” and still holds a special place in my heart for its magical world, I was beyond thrilled to learn about the sequel series, “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.” The new cast members’ enthusiasm for the show and their eagerness to bring these beloved characters to life is truly enchanting.

Hey fellow gamer! Here’s a heads-up: There might be some light spoilers for the debut of ‘Wizards Beyond Waverly Place’, airing in 2024’s TV lineup. If you haven’t had a chance to dive into this magical world yet, you can stream the first eight episodes on Disney+ with a subscription. So, grab your wand and let’s get started!

Upon learning that a sequel series for “Wizards of Waverly Place” was in the works, my excitement soared as I pondered what fresh adventures awaited in this cherished narrative. The peculiar creatures that the original cast of children battled on a regular basis were one of my favorite aspects of the franchise. During my interview with the cast of “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place“, I was eager to discover their preferences for which monsters they’d like to see return in this new series, and I found their responses delightful.

The sequel series unfolds over a decade since the initial show concluded, introducing a fresh set of young actors: Taylor Cora (playing Winter), Alkaio Thiele (Roman), and Max Matenko (Milo). Interestingly, before they landed their roles, none of them had seen the original series. To allay their apprehensions and ready themselves for their parts, however, they eventually watched it prior to filming. Their responses, when asked about which monsters from the original series they’d like reprised, were captivating following their encounter with the challenging monster (the Floogie) in the premiere episode. Taylor Cora, in particular, expressed a fondness for either Franken-Girl from Season 3 or perhaps her offspring, as she confided:

I’m eager to catch up with Franken-Girl, a character who had me in stitches throughout the show. Since I haven’t completed it yet, I’m not sure about her fate. However, if she could make a comeback or perhaps there might be a new character related to her – a daughter, for instance – I would absolutely enjoy that. Franken-Girl was one of the most amusing elements in the series, and I’d love to see more of it!

In the initial episode of Season 3, Franken-Girl made her appearance on the original “Wizards of Waverly Place”. Upon revisiting the series as a grown-up viewer, I can confidently say that including Franken-Girl was an excellent choice indeed.

Max Matenko, alternatively, envisioned a distinct personality for the upcoming Season 4 antagonist.

Absolutely, it’s been a while since I last saw “Gorog, The Angel of Darkness.” Bringing him back for another thrilling episode sounds fantastic! With our growing family now, it would make the fight even more intense and exciting. If we could somehow bring back an ally to help us out, that would certainly add to the fun.

While a name like “Gorog: Angel of Darkness” might sound like something you’d see in the best horror movies, the character was really just a leader of a group called Angels of Darkness. He was undoubtedly a memorable villain – but it would be hilarious (and honestly intriguing) to see him again in the sequel if he somehow came back.

In terms of the antagonist’s perspective, Thiele offered an alternative reaction, recalling the incident when Justin encountered a cranky leprechaun confined in a box. This leprechaun was known for being rude to everyone. The young performer expressed that it wasn’t merely the humor of a grumpy leprechaun that appealed to him, but he believed viewers would find it amusing to watch Milo interacting with this unlikable character, making light of an otherwise unpleasant situation.

As a huge fan, I’d say it’s safe to bet that his humor would make for an entertaining dynamic when he interacts with the new family and the mischievous leprechaun. After all, our mom wouldn’t take kindly to the leprechaun, nor would Roman, but I have a feeling Milo might find him amusing.

Matenko amusedly added this to the fact, stating what Milo would most likely do:

I’d just try to make friends with him.

Each selection brings to mind some exceptional fantasy TV series, boasting fantastic monsters that I eagerly anticipate. These selections could effortlessly find a place in the upcoming series, considering their substantial storylines involving Justin and Alex. Additionally, both David Henrie and Selena Gomez serve as executive producers, which adds to the likelihood. As we wait, I can’t help but imagine Roman Russo’s reactions when faced with that leprechaun!
