As an ardent follower of Nora Fatehi’s journey in Bollywood, I must say her resilience and determination are truly inspiring. Her recent revelation about the challenges she faces in terms of styling in the industry is a testament to her strength and unique perspective.
Nora Fatehi is recognized for her acting performances and hit dance sequences in Bollywood. Lately, the actress shared that she frequently requests her fashion designers and producers not to style her like Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, or Ananya Panday due to their distinct body structures. She mentioned that it can be challenging for them to comprehend her reasoning initially, but they eventually accommodate her request.
During an interview at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, Nora Fatehi shared insights into her fashion-related encounters within Bollywood. As a Canadian dancer who isn’t shy about discussing her experiences in the Bollywood scene, she revealed that she needs to propose and defend reasonable styling ideas when it comes to working in this industry.
After spending a considerable amount of time working in India, she feels confident enough to tell her fashion consultants that she doesn’t want to be dressed like Ananya Panday, Janhvi Kapoor, or Sara Ali Khan, as she possesses a distinct body type.
Reflecting on past instances, she mentioned, “I often find myself having disagreements as I need to persuade stylists and directors about choices in clothing. They’ll present options and say something like, ‘Everyone else is wearing this.’
I find myself in a predicament where, despite my eagerness to align with their vision, I must express that we have different physical builds. As much as I strive to resonate with their choices, it’s essential for us to tailor the outfits to suit my unique body type. Unfortunately, this uncommon physique in the industry often leaves me struggling to convey my preferences effectively to the stylists.
Nevertheless, the actress from Crakk firmly holds onto her position, and they concur. Additionally, Fatehi believes that donning costumes similar to those worn by other actresses might divert focus from the choreography’s elegance and the dance’s inherent beauty.
If you’re not familiar, Nora first appeared in Bollywood with the 2013 film Roar: Tigers of the Sundarbans. Since then, she has been involved in projects like Bharat, Bhuj: The Pride of India, Madgaon Express, and Crakk, as well as others. Additionally, she can be found in popular songs such as Manike, Ek Toh Kum Zindagani, Kamariya, Dilbar, and many more.
